New X10 Timetable

Starting 28th October, Barnsley depot will be operating this new service, linking Barnsley to Leeds on an hourly frequency. This will be operated by Volvo B9R/Plaxton Elites 53714-6 currently used on National Express work at Chesterfield but due to be replaced shortly by new Volvo B11R(T)/Caetano Levante 2s 54401-3 (BV67 JXX/Y/Z).

The X10 started today, for the first few days, all passengers can travel on service X10 for free. The Plaxton Elites started on the service this morning however due to high demand, some journeys were instead operated by Enviro400 MMC's.

'Line 30' is being increased to every 20 minutes from Monday

As such, there's to be a PVR increase - the additional vehicles are due to be revealed later this morning at Crystal Peaks.

These vehicles are seemingly ex Trent Barton Scania L94UB / Wright Solar's, 633 / FJ03VXA being the vehicle in Crystal Peaks right now.

Believe the other example is 635 (FJ03 VXC). Which means TM Travel are now home to 601/4/633-6/53 in the service fleet, with former Kinchbus 639 (FD53 WWL) in the yard being used for spares following withdrawal following an accident.

Ex-Brightbus Volvo B7L/East Lancs 1170 has been repainted into fleet livery.

MAN 14.240/Plaxton Centro 1199 (YN08 JWO) has been withdrawn - reason yet unknown.

Its replacement is in the former of yet another Scania L94UB/Wright Solar from Trent Barton - this time ex-Skylink 666.

It's time up for 4 deckers with very different histories in the next few weeks:

4 Scania N230UD/Alexander Dennis Enviro400s are in the process of transferring from West Scotland's Ardrossan depot, where they have been replaced by new Enviro400MMCs on the 11. They are due to enter service at Chesterfield, where they will release 4 deckers from their fleet. Two of the Scanias have already arrived at Chesterfield and these are 15644/5 (SF10 CDK/N) - which, of course, were two of the 5 examples loaned to Walkergate for the Olympic Period in 2012.

At Chesterfield, two will directly allow the depot's last pair of Tridents - 18125/6 (YN04 KGK/P) to be withdrawn. These were the first low-floor double deckers delivered to Chesterfield all the way back in 2004 for use on the depot's share of the 77 (Chesterfield to Worksop), with Worksop receiving 5 examples (of which today - 2 are based at Mansfield, 1 at Gainsborough and 2 moved to East Scotland a few years ago).

The other pair will release a pair of ex-Manchester Enviro400s - 19512/3 (MX09 KSF/J) - to Barnsley depot, where they will see off the pair of East Lancs-bodied Volvo B7TLs 16937/8 (YM02 CLY/Z). This pair were the first low floor double deckers new to Yorkshire Traction back in 2002 (of only 8 delivered new and 9 in total purchased by the company prior to the Stagecoach Takeover in 2005). 16937 is, of course, one of two vehicles painted in the 1950s version of Yorkshire Traction livery.

First South Yorkshire

4 Volvo B7RLEs are in the process of transferring from First Hampshire and Dorset. They are 69245-8 (YJ07 WFM/N/O/P) - which were new to First West Yorkshire's Bradford depot. 69245/8 entered service last week (69248 on Thursday, 69245 on Friday), replacing Volvo B7TL 30938 (X359 VWT) and Volvo B7L 60721 (MV02 VBO) 60721 (MV02 VBO), the later of which has been a long-term VOR parked at Volvo's Crossroads site in Brinsworth. These are reportedly the first of a number of expected cascades due this year - alongside an undisclosed number of Stop-Start Wright Streetdecks for Sheffield services 1a (High Green to Herdings via Firth Park and City Centre) and 56 (Herdings to Wybourn via City Centre).

TM Travel

A second Volvo B7L/East Lancs Nordic has arrived from Bright Bus (via Ensign) in the form of SA52DVV - presently in all-over white livery and missing a few seats on the upper deck. No fleetnumber has been allocated as yet. It is planned to use it on the 218 during the summer. It is one of three purchased from Ensign by Wellglade - the other pair are allocated to Notts & Derby.

MAN Centro 1199's withdrawal is following a RTC.

Another addition from the main Trent Barton fleet is Solo 430 (X612 ERB)[/u]

NYCC are reporting Shoreline are running a service between Scarborough and Flamingoland.

Is this a brand new service? Haven't been aware of it in the past, other than the odd one off from some of the holiday parks.

Wasn't operating last year, nor any time as far as I know. Should be used in both directions, with holiday campers fancying a day out. Maybe Britney could give it a go when she's visiting Scarborough?

It operated last year and 2016. But only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It was usually East lancs 31 last year. This year it's been registered as service 888.

More cascades are now rocking up at Olive Grove including:

Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urban 69223/8 (MX56 AEN/V) from Buses of Somerset (new to First Manchester)
Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 36257-9/62 (BG12 YJO/P/R/U) from First West Yorkshire - the first of 16 examples due following the arrival of the new Streetdecks in Leeds

The B9s are comfirmed by the usual South Yorkshire source as replacing a number of the B7Ls at Olive Grove - as well as allowing the end of the lease in the hired-in E200s.

Presumably, 36257 etc should read from First West *Yorkshire*. Also, do we have details of the new Steeetdecks at Leeds? Apart from the pic of 35266 above, I haven't seen any details on any site. Is the full batch 35265-80?

From the usual source ('The Captain' over on 'Travel South Yorkshire' forum), Sheffield Olive Grove are due the following in the next few months:

16 Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2s from Leeds (6 already arrived - 36257-62)
8 Euro3-engined Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urbans (2 of which have already arrived)
4 Euro4-engined Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urbans which have already arrived and entered service (69245-8)
Around 24 new Wright Streetdecks for 1a/56 (number tbc)

These should all see the number of B7Ls reduced as well as seeing the loaned E200s returned.

South Yorkshire General News

A number of service changes are being registered in the Rotherham area from Sunday 29th April. Saturday 28th April will mark the closure of Rotherham Interchange for a 12 month period for a major refurbishment - which will finally see stand A6 brought back into use after three years (by the time the work is completed).

While this is on-going, a temporary Bus Station is being built on the car park at Forge Island - a few minutes walk from the interchange and closer to the town's railway station. However, due to the large number of services using the interchange, some will use the local streets instead.

One oddity with the registrations today lists the revised 35/85 registration as 35/135.

Thanks. I believe the registrations are now on BLOTW, although a few are outstanding, so may just get '18 plates instead.

Yes, the quote source over on the TSY Forum works at Olive Grove depot.

All sources I can find regarding the examples that returned to Manchester do not mention 69222 and photographic evidence on Flickr show it to have been parked up at Taunton a few weeks ago pending transfer.

OK. thanks. Doesn't actually surprise me. Its very difficult to know what actually happens at First Manchester. They supposedly borrowed Gemini 32671 from Glasgow last Autumn. but its never been in service. They were also rumoured to be getting a number of 13 or 63 reg Pulsars from Somerset & Avon, bit that's gone quiet as well.
