April Fool's Day. A day when people pause to think if that thing they read on the internet is true or not.

...Or don't and just assume everything that they read is true, some of the things I've seen people fall for today is unbelievable, even at times when people have said "happy April Fool's" in their posts.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2018
Today I went on a trip on the 32A to Rye Hill. The Streetlites don't always have a comfortable ride. Nice comfortable seats though. I think Go North East are losing the service next year as they have now had the contract extended for another year and I don't think it gets renewed automatically next time, so they will have to bid for it. I hope they keep it, or Stanley Travel if they go for it. Arriva will most likely win it back again.

Apparently there is not a return option, so I had to buy two single tickets unfortunately, a day ticket would have cost even more.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2018
Are all three of the loan /demonstrator vehicles 9083, 9084 and 9085 still active with Go NorthEast, and are they normally allocated to specific boards?

9083 is allocated to the 309/310
9084 is allocated to the 67/69

The contract for the 32A was awarded for 1 year, with the option to extend for a further year so it now expires in March 2019.

Just general allocation to the routes,Ā though, rather than to any specific individual boards?

As far as I understand from Nexus, the contract was awarded in April last year for 1 year with the option to extend the contract, which happened this March. Now GNE would need to submit a tender in 2019 to be awarded it on a new contract. Rather than extendedĀ it would be a new contractĀ awarded. I could be wrong.

I have enjoyed my journeys on the 32A, whichĀ I never used when I wasĀ contractedĀ to/operated by Arriva. GNE provides a good service. No idea why their Nexus services don't offer return tickets.

Couple of random questions - don't tend to look at the GNE threads too often so apologies in advance:

Is there an up to date list of services with PVRs by depot anywhere?

And is there a way in the app to view which vehicle (fleet number) is operating a given run? I am sure I saw a screengrab ages ago showing this but can't see any way in the app itself to view this.

1) Not publicly but there are total vehicle counts per depot available.
2) You can view fleet numbers of buses by remaining on the screen that shows when you run the app. Sometimes you have to login or reload the application, but from that first screen, simply click the red balloon that displays the buses. Inside you will see GNE-####, where #### is the fleet number.

I have just seen 5438 going towards Sunderland right now. Itā€™s in a plain red livery, any ideas?

Blue Arrow OmniCity on 40 at Wallsend Metro just after 3pm today. I don't know if that is a normal allocation. Strangely no Blue Arrow OnniCities on the Blue Arrow 11 today!

GNE frequently use buses of one branding on another service in North Tyneside, as do Arriva. To me, that makes branding quite meaningless.

Very true. I don't see the point of branding if they can't do it properly, at least most of the time. The Coaster, Cobalt Clipper and indiGo services are usually correctly branded and the Quaylink. The corporate livery gives them flexibility, no reason to mix brands and services.Ā Arriva usually has muddled branding I've noticed.

Percy main thinking is a bus is a bus and can go anywhere if it is working and spare it can go on any route and this has been the thinking for many year and will never change as I well now

Yes, I agree that a bus is a bus. Therefore don't introduce route branding. Different liveries, but not specific to any services, is a good option.
