RE: East Midlands Bus Operations

The former 'indigo' B7RLEs are now being to be prepared for their new homes.
701/2 are now in yellow for 'The Villager' V1 - 703-5 are reportedly due to join them. The V3 has been removed from 'The Villager' brand and is now being allocated the 2 of 3 former 'The Allestree' fleet livered Solo SRs 495-7.

706-11 are due to replace the Scanias presently used with a few changes - it is due to be re-branded 'The Calverton' (in line with 'The Cotsgrave' and 'The Keyworth' relaunch with the former 'Mickleover' examples last year). Operation has also already moved from Sutton depot to Nottingham Manvers Street depot.

This leaves 712-6 - rumours are that these will also be replacing Scanias, with the 'Pronto' examples being mentioned as needing replacing.

The 'i4' E200MMCs entered service on 21st October. The Optare Tempo SRs were part-exchanged as part of the purchased and they were moved to Plaxton's Dealer Site at South Aston the same day. Metrocity 99 is supposedly due to return to Optare - once its interior has been restored to original condition.

Former 'my 15' Versa 801 - repainted into fleet livery earlier this year - has been repainted into 'Heanor's H1' livery following the introduction of the revised 12 minutes frequency.

Further update.

712/6 have been painted into 'Mango' livery with the additional interior modifications (change of headrests etc). 712 is now based at Derby to cover on the 'swift' while the branded examples on there (736-8) are refurbished (these being some of the last examples still in original condition internally). 716 is also due to be allocated to Derby.

Stagecoach East Midlands

Former 'Pronto' MAN 18.240 22772-7 and ADL E300s 27182-5, along with former spare 27186, have now gained 'Mansfield Miller' branding for service 1 (Mansfield Woodhouse to Huthwaithe and Alfreton). These replace E200 36509-20 (most of which have lost their branding during the repaint programme which started in late 2017) for use on other Mansfield local runs.

Nottingham City Transport have got funding for more biogas infrastructure. 67 more are set to join the fleet this year, with 17 and 28 confirmed to receive them.
Trent Barton have got funding for 8 electric vehicles but have made zero acknowledgment whatsoever about it so I have no more info.

Changes to 'The Sixes' network planned for May - a roadshow is taking place over the coming weeks to gauge reactions of the regular users - main change sees the core section between Derby and Belper increased to every 10 minutes, the 6.X withdrawn, the 6.4 extended to Ripley alongside the 6.2/6.3 with Kilburn served by a new 6.5 service.

67 due over the next few months - taking the total in the fleet to 120, and should see all pre-2010 vehicles withdrawn.

The first batch delivered are 454-62 (YN19 EEJ/M/O/P/R/S/T/U/V) for 'Brown Line' 17 (City Centre, intu Victoria Centre - Bulwell via Hucknall Road). These have replaced Omnidekkas from that route into spare roles.

The second batch are for 'Lilac Line' 27 (City Centre, King Street to Carlton) and so far comprise of 463/4 (YN19 EEW/X) plus YN19 EEY/Z. A further 2 are expected.

Also due to be converted to Gas operation are 'Navy Line' 49 (City Centre to Boots Factory), which will be revised to operated via Queens Drive Park and Ride site from 23rd June (likely the date their E400CNGs enter service), when new service 49B also starts (the 49B will be the journeys on the 49 which terminate at the Park & Ride rather than at Boots Factory). As well, 'Pink Line' 28 (City Centre, intu Victoria Centre to Bilborough via University of Nottingham Jubilee Campus) and 'Yellow Line' 68/69 (City Centre, intu Victoria Centre to Bulwell, Snape Wood) are the only other confirmed routes - 8 in total are being upgraded to Gas-operation.

Details are now emerging on delivery dates for the latest Trent Barton E200MMCs thanks to The Derby Bus Depot

The first batch due are the 11 bound for the 'Kinchbus' fleet to replace the Citaros on 'Skylink Derby' - these are due in the next few weeks and will enter service gradually. The Citaros will then go in the opposite direction to ADL for resale - a number are understood to have already been sold to Ipswich Buses.
The second batch will be 16 for 'rainbow 1' replacing 6 year old Optare Versa V1170s (the only examples of that length in the fleet) which will be redeployed within the Trent Barton fleet with rumours of 'the sixes' mentioned.

Reports suggest that some of the remaining 25 due in 2021 will be for Sutton depot for 'the threes' replacing what will be by then 9 year Optare Versas.

East Midlands Bus Operations
Brylaine Travel are temporarily withdrawing all their Saturday journeys until at least the end of March in response to the driver shortage situation: https://www.brylaine.co.uk/services-2

It is with regret we inform our passengers, due to a significant reduction of drivers within our team and an extreme shortage of PCV drivers in Lincolnshire, we will be unable operate any Saturday bus services from the 01/01/2022 - 31/03/2022.

We had hoped to avoid this action taking intermediary steps on the 06/11/2021, adopting temporary reduced Saturday services. However, after further reductions in the team we find ourselves in the position whereby we must consider what is best for everyone in these exceptional circumstances.

This action is not in anyway taken lightly and we hope that it is temporary; it is a big decision for a local family business as we fully appreciate both the disruption and inconvenience it may cause to loyal passengers. It is being taken with our best intentions to ensure Brylaine are able to fully operate ALL SERVICE between Monday - Friday on the days they are most needed by the communities we serve.

All Monday to Friday daily commuter and education services will be unaffected by this action.

Quite a few of the Wrightbus GB Kites are in service with First Leicester now.

Despite the notice in Haymarket Bus Station advertising route 17 as one of the electric bus routes, yesterday they were mainly if not entirely on other routes instead.

More likely off a ship at Port of Tyne.
