Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2019

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2019
I suppose it depends on local policy or operator.

I remember many years ago when Go North East were rolling out bandit screens, and those that were retrofitted to vehicles were a bit messy and were then later removed. Whereas later vehicles came with bandit screens as standard, I recall on some vehicles the driver had the option of lowering or raising the screen.

I don't think there's been any mention of it at all since Dan said it would be out last week.

Wonder if they forgot to bring the charger up north ?

Been to Riverside and Saltmeadows a couple of times within the last week and couldn’t see it anywhere.

In the morning it's a Drifter, then an X-Lines Solo, and the third board which is just a 135 from Witherwack in is also an X-Lines Solo. In the evening/Sunday should only be 17 plate Black Cats Streetlites as they're Euro 6.

I really like the X-Lines design, I think the corporate livery should follow the same design, I done a mock up and I think it looks better than the present livery.

I think you're missing the point of Xlines if you want to make other liveries like that. Diluting the punch of the brand.

Looks as though 6328 is just getting minor changes rather than being rebranded completely as it still has the vinyls on the sides.

Yeah, that's what i thought.
It's going to be interesting to see what the Streetdecks with the staircase windows looks like in Xlines. From the renders I prefer without the glass but we'll have to wait and see what it's like in person

Quite bizarrely 719 has gained a rear advert for Durham Works, even though its primarily allocated to the 33

Toonlink 5237 has it too.

Yes, I noticed it’s missing it’s front fleet number.

Excellent, it will be a huge improvement to be able to see out of the windows and also to have light coming in.

Glad it wasn't just me then!

I have a nasty feeling that it'll be going back on. IMO, the back windows on a Streetdeck are pointless anyway. They're too small and too high up to be able to see anything but the sky

Hopefully not.  The windows on Streetdecks are much smaller than those on the hybrids which previously ran the 21 and with the back windows covered, I've always felt they're pretty dark inside compared to other buses.  When 6332/33 are substituting for green ones, the additional light coming in through the back is noticable, even if the view isn't great as you say.

Upstairs I really like the smaller windows, the higher ledge gives me something to lean against!

But it is noticeable how much brighter it is when I get one of the old Angels on the Coaster though.

Higher ledge and a table?!

I currently volunteer with DurhamWorks, and the adverts will be to encourage young people from around the north east to get involved with its partners which expand beyond the County Durham area.

Hopefully that extra light won't make them even hotter than they already are. Can be absolutely wilting and still we get window slammers.

I've always found the Streetdecks to be quite a cool bus, primarily because of the small windows, but also because the AC is actually quite good. That day the other week where it was 30c outside, it was actually surprisingly cool on the X21.

I've found them to be okay for that, it's just if you sit at the back downstairs it can sometimes be a bit too warm, great on a winter's evening though

That's the main reason I don't like sitting downstairs. I had to sit on the back seat of an X66 the other day and I was literally melting off the seat

Might X21GNE find its way onto a Streetdeck?

Nah, they'll probably shove it onto a completely unrelated service like they did with N21GNE

Scratch that, looks like it's going on 6333. I presume they haven't updated the colour with DVLA yet

With the school contracts starting the week commencing the 2nd September, will we see many movements from the school fleet?

Quite a few, following changes to the specification of some of them.
