We've had the stalking people thread and now we've got this!
Doesn't have to be limited to buses; trains can count too.
5213 stalked me on a regular basis when it was Purple.
Lost track of how many times it turned up, no matter what time of day it was, what direction I was heading in or which variant of the 20 I was needing.
I noticed that once it went spare, it still liked taking me places.
Currently, it's the ex-SR Barbie sets that Heaton have. Literally can't get away from them. It's primarily 156 465 which follows me about, but they don't seem fussy.
I'd say its getting on 8 or 9 times since the New Year and it's been on various bits of track across the region. I tend not to use Northern as much as I used to, but when I do, it tends to be a Barbie. It even broke down on me at the end of February!
There's been others, but non as stand out as those.

I remember I’d go out and I would see it all the time. Sometimes, I tried getting away from it only to turn up at the interchange and see it on the 9 or the 38.

I wonder if it’s just us, but after they went into corporate a, if I needed a 35A in the evening, half the time 5214 would turn up.
RE: Vehicles that stalk you
For me, it's got to be 5454, it seems to be the only 49 I ever get!
And when I get the X30, it's always 6340, no matter how much I prey for 6337
Back when they were running Omnidekkas on the X21, it'd seem like whenever I wanted to go out, it'd be 6146 that was the next bus

Pure guess, but I think it would have been a Lynx.
Thought they had all gone by 2002/3.

Not a stalking vehicle as much as a migrating one. I came across one-off GNE E300 SN04EGF intermittently in my teen years when I had mates around Washington. I moved to Manchester 10 years ago and eventually ended up in Moston where it cropped up again taking me to work under ownership of Bluebird and eventually Stagecoach.
I also lived in South Manchester for a bit and commuted into town with Finglands, occasionally on an ex London B7 which eventually ended up under GNE operation. Never caught one back in the NE but funny how things come back around.

Any full size saloon was certainly more roomy then vs now but mini-buses have come a long way. Barely any room for knees let alone shopping in a Metrorider or 709d versus a mini E200 or Solo.

There's been a few over the years for me, when I used to log every bus I travelled on, you could see which vehicles would always appear (though some were on purpose like Olympians etc). But I do recall getting on Tridents 3862 and 3865 a lot, whilst with the Lance SLFs I always tended to get 4772 when I was younger.
Stagecoach wise, that B7TL they had on long term loan in the early 2000s cropped up a few times.
Arriva it tended to be MetroRider 883, Olympian 7293 (prob more on purpose), Scania L113s 271/272.
As for independents....
Compass Travel, I used to end up on the Hairy Lemon a lot (E734WEC), and same went for it's previous operator Amberline. (https://www.flickr.com/photos/tcd481j/48907664563)
Classic DAR123T appeared a lot for me, again prob on purpose.
Henry Coopers, Leopard TBR527V appeared a lot, though that was mainly because it was allocated to my school bus.
Elsewhere, one holiday in the Ayrshire Coast, I kept getting on Volvo B10B M151FGB of Stagecoach West Scotland. (https://www.flickr.com/photos/gjm-photog...7495858020)

5475 almost always appears when I’ve been out to photograph GNE’s Black Cats Streetlites

I always remember the native examples being very squashed towards the rear (primarily the ones used on the 194/294). Not sure if they tried squeezing an extra row in or not, but they were pretty awful legroom wise.
They had a good turn of power when given the opportunity though.

Mine currently is ADL E300 27723 at Stagecoach Stockton, it's the only 11 plate unbranded one there now but it often seems to turn up when I head out on local routes 13, 59 or 61! The other two got transferred away but that one stayed...

Strange you mention that. Having been a passenger on the 194/294 for many years, I was a bit fed up of the Lynxes. Much preferred the Nationals.
It would have been a few years after the Lynxes had gone and replaced by the Renowns, but I was in Ashbourne. It would have been summer 2002 and there were some (it's a while back, so can't remember how many they had) ex-GNE Fxxx LRG Lynxes kicking around.
Of all the places, I happened to accidentally stumble upon something that had more or less been a daily staple for the best part of 10 years.

Arriva Darlington for whatever reason always seemed to allocate Pulsar 1424 to the 7 I would get to college on a morning back when the primary allocation was the X---GGO Darts, had to mention them haha
6047 was always on the X9/X10 for me when they were TTX branded.
Scarlet Band I would always seem to wind up seeing and riding NX55FFS which is what I would think each time it appeared again.

GNE’s 676 is the X-lines Solo I mostly see when I’m out spotting, bit annoying when it’s 678 I am after
