RE: Destination Displays
I don't see a problem. It's making a letter smaller makes no difference. Ita not gonna effect the bus route at all. Its just they have short down the letter now

Becoming personal is unnecessary and from what I've seen so far, its largely without foundation.

Its just they have short down the letter nowIt does make a difference if it's more difficult for people to see the route number and where it's going. Drivers don't like it for the reasons CookieMonster mentioned earlier. There is very little benefit of having route numbers on the offside. Best practice is for it to be on the near side where people can see it clearly, especially if they're waiting on a busy road with lots of buses.
(05 Mar 2021, 9:41 am)MichealAaron wrote I get that but there's no need for a massage compliment about it. I think bus companies like Go North East have bigger things to sort out then just these little letters. It's like the Single Destination board a while ago. So much complainingAgreed that they do have much bigger things to sort out and improve. But why mess around with it in the first place?
(05 Mar 2021, 10:22 am)MichealAaron wrote It's like what they did with the single destination blind. Just trying out new things. Seeing how it works for the public. We as bus spotters care about the buses. The public don't.. just as long as that bus gets them home. To us it's a debate to them. It means nothing

(18 May 2021, 9:41 am)streetdeckfan wrote See, I find that display so much better than the single height ones, it shows the actual destination as well as the legal destination (due to it being registered as 2 separate routes).
The most important destination, Middlesbrough, is the biggest, rather than Dalton Park which shows on the single height displays.
(18 May 2021, 10:33 am)ne14ne1 wrote No I agree and also like that Middlesbrough is bigger than Dalton Park for once as Middlesbrough is the end of the route after all, it’s just with the via points in too it’s quite a lot.
(18 May 2021, 10:41 am)streetdeckfan wrote I don't know about anyone else, but I never look at the via points on a display!
In fact, I actually preferred it when they went through the phase of not having them at all because the destination was bigger!
(18 May 2021, 2:13 pm)ne14ne1 wrote Me too(!), I loved the destination-only displays but obviously others disagreed so they put via points back on. At least they don’t scroll like before.
If only GNE could just use clearer more modern text as standard like SNE and ANE both now do I’d be happy.

Go North East’s font does.

I really like the font you put on the lower part of the double height screens: https://flic.kr/p/2kTUrsr
along with the font of the destination-only/short service displays: https://flic.kr/p/2kTxJBq
...but I dislike the standard bold font as the letters look cramped and square: https://flic.kr/p/2kTBPvp.
(The numbers on the 53/54 are ugly and dated in my opinion too, but I’ve noticed others like them (they were spotters though so probably bias)).
