Go North East X75 - Newcastle to Belsay Hall

At the Ponteland/Belsay end, it will likely go the same route as the 808, I'm not sure how many ways there are. Certainly it will be a direct, express route. But at the Newcastle end, I doubt it will take the 808 route through Fenham. Even though it's reasonably quick from Haymarket, through Fenham to Ponteland Road, I don't expect it will go that way. Do you think it will stop along the route? 808 is set down only until Ponteland Road in Cowgate.

Non stop from Ponteland to Newcastle I think

Thank you, Thomas. We'll see. I'll definitely be trying it out either way. Maybe it will be set down only the same as the 808 towards Ponteland, but the 808 does pick up towards Newcastle.

The timetable is now on Traveline.

Thank you for the X75 timetable. I will definitely try it out. Very limited stop, and doesn't say what route it will be taking. Disappointed it won't stop in Fenham or Cowgate or anywhere before Ponteland Main Street, to pick up or set down passengers. Journey time looks good. Hopefully a nice day out in Ponteland and Belsay.

It’s clearly aimed at point to point day trippers to Belsay Hall so stopping in heavily served places like Fenham and Cowgate would make little sense.

English heritage are still insisting on bookings even into July and August so for it to work you’d need a ticket and free bus entry deal or time your visit well and hope there’s space.
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

Of course. Just means I need to get to Haymarket to get the X75, just to end up back where I started onboard the bus! A wasted journey into town!

Can anyone get on the X75, or just day trippers for Belsay Hall?
RE: X75
X75 will depart from Stand R in Haymarket Bus Station

Service runs every Saturday & Sunday

First bus service is 9.30am then every 1 hour 30 minutes till the last bus out of 16.00 (out of Haymarket)

First bus out of Belsay Hall is 10.23 then 11.53 and every 2 hours after that till 16.40

All information can be found on bus org
RE: X75
The timetable leaflet looks great. Lots of good info on there.

Its not clear whether Go Zones tickets are accepted though, given the non-member day return is the same price as an all zones ticket.

Edit: confirmed with GNE CS that they are.

I don't think you need to draw parallels between the two. One is a funded express service, aimed at getting visitors into Belsay Hall, Castles and Gardens, with a very limited weekend service. The others serve as a means of getting people from their communities into a City (or Town) centre for work, retail or leisure.

For that reason, it's probably sensible to keep them apart.

Don't you want easy connections though, majority of GNE buses go from Eldon Square

Probable's not, I'm sure deckers can't fit, GNE ran a shuttle a while back for an event, and all the buses had to be single deckers.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

Nope. Single decker only, as mentioned already, no decker can enter Belsay.

What else could you put on it?

It has to be a single-deck bus due to the low hanging trees at Belsay Hall. The Scania OmniCitys are (until the Streetlites are ready for service once the drivers receive familiarisation) the only suitable buses which are based at Percy Main.

The Scania OmniCitys have free Wi-Fi and high backed seating.

Ah yeah, not many single decks at Percy Main. StreetLite would be good. Is the X75 getting a StreetLite eventually? Could the X75 continue / run again next year if passenger numbers are good? Disappointing it doesn't stop along Ponteland Road on request.
RE: X75
Does anyone know if the X75 will run again this summer? I used it twice for Ponteland last year but never got to Belsay Hall. The service could stop along Ponteland Road providing a limited service in West Newcastle, on weekends. 684 used to run on Sundays years ago, hopefully there will be a service on Sundays aside from the 12/12A, 33A and Q3.

Holding out for a return of the 508 and 714 personally!
