Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2

Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2

RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Any idea of what changes are happening to the 309/310/311? Will frequencies remain the same?

If so, will PVR return to pre March 2020 (16x) and one of the following interworking patterns?

- 310-311-309-310

Or

- 309-311-309 with 310 standalone

Loadings look fairly healthy given the current climate to be fair from when I've seen them out and about

Could the changes be due to the fact Sage are moving into 2 buildings on the Cobalt in the coming months resulting in higher demand for services.

I recall 2 years ago when I started working on the Cobalt the 309 was every 15 minutes then dropped to every 20 minutes then to every 30 minutes when the 311 was introduced.

I would personally like to see more peak time X39 journeys beyond 5pm with extra services running at 17:40/18:10/18:40 into Newcastle or alternatively have X39/309 merge making a full-time xpress between Blyth, Whitley, Cobalt & Newcastle with 311 extending from Hadrian Park up to the Cobalt covering local links lost from the 309.

You'd then have 310/311 Every 15 Minutes and the X39 Every 30 Minutes Monday to Saturday with the 311 extended from Cobalt to Blyth on a Sunday operating Every 30 Minutes with the 310 still operating Every 30 Minutes on a Sunday.

Sage are doing hybrid working so I can't see demand increasing massively - just spread out across different days.

Santander have closed their office and moved to home working, Newcastle Building Society are going hybrid working as are a few others across there.

Arriva did later services on X6 to about 18:00 I believe but they got pulled due to low demand and I think the whole service is pulled now, did seem an odd one with nothing going through, only other arriva service I remember the 53 used to go through cobalt at peaks and seemed to be fairly popular but think when the 42/42A began it kind of knocked them out a bit 42 following a similar route
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
I see GCT have been stripped of a lot of their contracts with majority operations coming back to GNE

With the emergency Nexus contract changes commencing this evening, Washington local services 85/86 were ran by Deptford with 673/675. The 81-84 were continued by Washington depot into the evening using their Little Pinks branded Solos.

Excellent  Big Grin

If S&D is already spreading out to Concord why not knock Cityrider on the head and have S&D Fatso’s sandwich orange and maybe swap out Drifter for S&D Greggs sausage roll blue?

Think new Hexham times are on either jplanner or traveline.

It does, according to Traveline,

Monday to Friday:
X85 will run later in the evening too, as the last bus from Hexham to Newcastle is 22:35pm and 23:55pm from Newcastle to Hexham.

Saturday: The first bus from Hexham is 7:34am, first bus from Newcastle is 9am and last bus is 23:25pm from Newcastle.

Sunday, the X85 will start at 9:16am from Hexham to Newcastle, and 10:05am towards Hexham, with the last bus on the X85 is 18:05pm towards Newcastle - hourly throughout the day.

Edit:

I tried the other services but couldn't figure them out

So the X85 will run on evenings and Sundays now? What about the X84? Any changes for Tynedale Links?

Yeah I must admit this livery does look very smart. The dark grey and red go together very well.

I know someone mentioned that Deptford are running the 85/6 Washington evening contracts on an emergency contract. Does anyone know if this contract is a permanent change or just temparary?

Thanks

Temporary, due to the emergency contracts gained from GCT. Might change when Nexus announce the new tender.
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Few points about changes to 309/310/311:

- Would it not make more sense for interworking pattern to be 309-311-309 with 310 standalone rather than 310-311-309-310? Obviously only pitfalls about my suggested pattern are driver change points as some would need done in Hadrian Park due to driving hours. Also, 310 would not get as much recovery time although still enough. The 309 can often get stuck down the Coast and extra layover / running time can be beneficial.

- Evening 310 will no longer serve Hadrian Park. But that will mean the last bus to Hadrian Park being at 11pm which although is late, will not provide anything 'after' 11pm. Would it not make sense to scrap the evening 311 and run an enhanced 309 & 310 service with the 310 via Hadrian Park? Could increase frequency to every 30 mins each until around 9pm then hourly each until after 11pm.

- Sunday 309 still a problem and again the pinch points on the Coast. Have always said that the 309 needs to go standalone on Sundays & Bank Holidays.

Lost tons of drivers and couldn't keep the contracts running. So on a temporary basis. Gne took back some of the routes
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Yep even though they also have a lack of drivers available and are not running lots of their own commercial services, i think yesterday was the worse, 3 Quaycity buses parked up with nobody to drive them, causing massive gaps in service along with some 58/53/27's as well.

From Monday they are reducing frequency on a lot of routes and cancelling some other trips on the day but at least they will be letting people know about these ones which they havent been doing this past week.

This week has been the exception and not the norm, due to a spike in track and trace cases (a problem the entire industry is suffering from at the moment).

For every duty taken on for the Gateshead Central Taxis work, an equivalent duty on scholars duplicates has either been cancelled or sub-contracted out to other operators (Stanley Travel, A-line, and indeed from next week Coatham Coaches).

Ye, I seems to be rife again at the minute, its hit everyone.

If GNE aren't running a route, are they going to be putting that out on social media because you know what people can be like!

A-Line, Stanley Travel and Henry Cooper Coaches have assisted GNE at some point during today. Here is Henry Coopers 3515HX on the 49. https://www.flickr.com/photos/gjm-photog...otostream/

I have seen on facebook Coatham Coaches are lending a hand too. It's good to see operators working together. The industry need to stick together and help each other out.

It is pleasing to see operators supporting each other.
Hopefully the independents are being reimbursed well for their efforts.

I'd also hope that the frequent 'incidents' being reported on social media aren't anything else other than incidents and nothing to do with T&T pinged drivers.
