Make the most of the coast this Summer School Holiday.. Service 19 to Seaburn is back!

Grab your bucket and spade and head to the coast this summer!

From Saturday 23 July 2022, service 19 is once again back to connect Sunderland's North Estates with the stunning seafront at Seaburn.

Service 19 will link Castletown, Hylton Castle, Downhill, Red House and Southwick with the coast running hourly EVERY DAY during the summer holidays until Sunday 4 September (inclusive).

As with the trips we operated earlier in the year, to improve reliability, the service will no longer operate via Grange Road terminus in Castletown and at Town End Farm will operate direct via Hylton Lane instead of Blackwood Road and Brunswick Road

Stagecoach confirms future for its inter-city coach retail operations

Stagecoach has today (29 July 2022) confirmed the future of the retailing activities of its inter-city coach businesses, megabus.com and Falcon.
Both megabus.com and Falcon are Stagecoach’s 100%-owned inter-city coach operations. In addition, Stagecoach has a joint venture, Scottish Citylink, with international transport group, ComfortDelGro. The joint venture is responsible for the Scottish Citylink express coach network and megabus.com branded services to, from and within Scotland.

Stagecoach and ComfortDelGro have now reached agreement for Stagecoach to sell the following businesses to Scottish Citylink:

the megabus retail platform and customer-service business, which sells and markets inter-city coach services in England and Wales
Falcon South-West, which retails tickets for the coach route between Plymouth and Bristol Airport

In return, Stagecoach's share of the Citylink joint venture will increase from 35% to 37.5%.

Around 30 Stagecoach Group employees are expected to transfer to Scottish Citylink as part of the sale. There is no change to the operation of the inter-city coach services themselves.

Stagecoach Chief Executive, Martin Griffiths, said: "Inter-city coach has a positive future as a greener and better value alternative to the car and as the UK rail network continues to see rising fares and operational challenges.

"The agreement we have reached with ComfortDelGro will provide certainty for employees in these businesses, and ensure we can continue to benefit from future growth in the inter-city coach market through our increased share in the Scottish Citylink joint venture."

On behalf of ComfortDelGro, Sean O’Shea, Chief Executive Officer for Metroline, said: “ComfortDelGro’s 20-year long relationship with Stagecoach in Scotland is set to expand and I look forward to working together to deliver great services for inter-city customers in England and Wales.”

The agreement is subject to certain conditions and completion of the transaction is expected in mid-August 2022.

Walkergate's 400MMCs are starting to return from Commonwealth Games duties. Saw four heading home this evening crossing Byker Bridge, all displaying 'Birmingham 2022' on destination panel. 11285 among them.

They won't be back for a little while, they'll be going via ADL Anston to have their seats put back in.

The services are appearing on BusTimes; select one of the services and you get an option to click the "Map (tracking 1 bus)" option, but that map only shows the service running, not the identity of the vehicle operating it.

It’s been that way since the Mid 1990s when Stagecoach took over Cleveland Transit and Hartlepool Transport.  Cleveland Transit is the legal name for all services in both areas.

It’s not because of that and technically it is a proper depot still and always has been. An outstation would mean they would just be parked up somewhere with no engineering.  Like I put Cleveland Transit is the legal name for all services so it has the Transit legal name.  It’s no different to all Arriva depots having the same address or all Go North Buses having the Gateshead depot address.
RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News
Yeah, all Go North East buses are addressed to 117 Queen Street - there's not even a depot there, it's just their office, but it's the company's registered address.

Used to be a big depot there, before being sold off and houses were built there.

Id saw some vehicles had their lower saloon seats removed (right back to the rear wheel arches or where the floor steps up) so that numerous disabled bays could be put in
