RE: Disruptions and driver shortages
I’m sure passengers would prefer to know which buses are running on Boxing Day as opposed to elves tbh.

Service and call centre rotas are nigh on impossible to achieve for public transport users…thank god for flexible home working, it saves me the hassle of many operations managers pulling their hair out.

Does nothing for public transport patronage mind…

Arriva nearly stranded me at the club yesterda7. 3 in a row 44 to town cancelled. Got the 44 to Dinnington then back to town as 45. Bus was busy but no where near full. Maybe arriva or nexus should consider doing a one bus an jour loop and making sure every bus ran?!

I'd avoid the area tonight then. Apart from the 8.25pm 44, the rest of the 44s and 45s after 7pm are cancelled according to the signs in the Haymarket.

Sorry but that's outrageous! Even a two hourly service would be better than nothing!

Going to cost Arriva big time including temporary solutions to get driver numbers where they need to be.

Simplest solution would be getting rid of the X8, dropping the 306/308 to every 20 mins each (taking out of Battle Hill would further reduce PVR to 14x) and re-routing the 43 via High Pit, Annitsford and Fern Drive. 1x per hour continues via current X8 route to Blyth and other to Morpeth. X10/X11/52 cover Dudley Lane in most part.

Current PVRs (Mon-Fri) = 49x
- 306/308 - 18x
- 43/44/45 - 9x
- X7/X8/X9 - 14x
- X10/X11 - 8x

New PVRs = 42x
- 306/308 - 14x
- 43/44/45 - 11x
- X7/X9/X10/X11 - 17x

Furthermore, giving up the 685 and Stagecoach full operating would reduce the PVR requirement by a further 2-3x.

Okay not ideal the hourly 43 route from Blyth but low usage and passengers can change in Cramlington if wanting quicker. Likewise for the 306, Newcastle to Battle Hill covered by GNE and North Shields & West Chirton to Battle Hill also covered by 310. Only a short walk in most instances too from St Peters' off the Coast Road if not near the 310.

342 to kingston park then the metro or a walk across the filed for the "absolutely brilliant" GNE Q3 ( quote from hazlering faebook group who think giving the 44 to GNE will make everything better)
RE: Disruptions and driver shortages
GNE, what a joke today on the 60, out of the 6 buses that are supposed to be on only 4 were on until 17:00 when there were finally 6 buses on, well that's until some buses finish for the night.

Buses, 10/15/17/25 mins late. No bus for 40 minutes this morning, and tonight leaving the town, the last bus was at 15:53 which left 10 mins late, then the next bus was at 16:41 which came in late as it came straight from the 24, so it either came from the Depot or came from being parked up as the same 4 buses had been on all day, with the 2 missing from service.

The driver of the 14:53 from Sunderland to Parkside left Sunderland 13 minutes late, arriving at Parkside at 16:06 arriving 34 minutes late, with another 60 right behind the genius driver of the 14:53 decided to do a run back, then he turned around a Rhyope and did the 61, the 16:19 from Sunderland, which was 15 mins late when he turned around.

So because the 16:19 61 didn't run, but thankfully the 16:49 did run from Sunderland and the 16:41 60 did run, we thought that there would be no 60 till 16:56 as that was the next one due in after the moron who ran 34 mins late but then turned around and did a 61.

The 61 has been running with massive delays as well. The queues at Parklane went well past the coach stand. What an absolutely tragic performance by GNE today on the 60/61

If it's put on the social media/Short Notice Cancellation list I wouldn't have a problem but for all everyone knows the 60s were running fine except the tweet from GNE says services were running 30 minutes late, but honestly. Throughout the days there have been loads of Depford services running with delays and there's nothing on Twitter or services which haven't run at all and are not listed on short notice cancellations.

I know snow would have caused some issues but there is no excuse for Go North East's absolute shambolic performance today, with no one telling passengers what's happening, there were loads of elderly standing waiting for a bus that wasn't going to turn up for 40 mins.

How hard is it to write in a document, service times that arent running? Disgusting.

Noticed huge gaps northbound along Durham Road this evening.
The next bus that came along was an X12. Standing room only.

I wonder what those at ANE towers are thinking about NF and what's going on at GNE Towers?

Just going off Twitter it seems the X21 has hammered today, and 56 according to the FB comments has aswell. Aswell as X45/X30 and even the 2's have had loads of delays as well. The 78 seems to be a common one with delays.

There was an 8 go into park lane 30 mins late this morning then went NIS, that service is every hour. That's disgraceful.

The X21 struggle to be on time most the time, without that 30 min layover in newcastle its really killing the service
RE: Disruptions and driver shortages
What part of the 56 route is causing such heavy delays, some leaving Park Lane 30 mins late, and that is after a 12 min layover. THere are 4 following each other into Gateshead, 3 into ParkLane
RE: Disruptions and driver shortages
It's just that time of year unfortunately. On top of the usual school traffic and the likes, the issue is exacerbated by Christmas shopping traffic as it is every year. Couple that with driver and or vehicle shortages and you've got significant delays. The big issue with social media and app cancelations is they're done centrally (presumably Gateshead in Go Aheads case) with information getting mixed up or missed along the way and the lack of local knowledge not helping. Yesterday my 16 minute late south bound bus in Hartlepool dropped out on route 6 at 1635 (should have been 1619), Central Libary and dropped back in going north on route 7 from Gerald Shottons at 1648 and I don't imagine that was reported by the boffins in Sunderland either.

I'm fairly sure it's automated software that they whack a reason code into.
Or the staff are hopeless - or hopelessly overworked.

They've just apologised for the 58 from Haymarket to Hadrian Park being cancelled....

They really must have a backlog!

They get it mixed up all the time.

I must say there 100% needs to be some changes, I understand on rare occasions buses may become 20-30 mins late, but its happening daily, a lot of the time it can go upto 60 mins late. X21/21/56/X45/X30/X31 are all suffering, and its hurting passengers.
