6196 is in GNE livery, was painted some weeks ago.

Have a feeling a lot of these are only temp with all the shortages

It’s a credit to the livery that it can make nigh on 15 year old buses look nearly new

Do the E400s not have a stupidly low speed limiter on them like some of the other ex-London vehicles?

Currently on 6955 and it was happily sitting at 60mph GPS on the A1 with it occasionally going up to 65mph. I get the impression if it wasn't for the traffic it could have kept going.

Seats are awful on the B9's from london aswell couldn't feel my arse after being on the 20 for an hour, they're by far the worst seats in the fleet no comfort.

At a complete guess, if there's only 6 and given nothing has appeared in terms of a dedicated fleet of buses for DFDS work. Perhaps these fit the bill, have 4 in DFDS livery with 2 spare in fleet colours, or even all 6. It's not unheard since they had about 10 buses branded for DFDS work around the early noughties (3538/3540/3674/3744/3832/3833/3866/3867/3890/3891). Basically the buses are acting as mobile adverts for DFDS, I think it might be part of the contract for vehicles to be painted up, or at least it used to be. Mind there is still two Omnidekkas knocking around the Eastern Gateshead routes promoting trips to Amsterdam.

There is a B9 on Dan Grahams twitter that shows it with luggage pen and rail so I would suspect they are in the process of converting buses to DFDS spec

Would they not cost in terms of repaint, re-trim and whatever else they have done?  Also, would there not be a cost associated with having 6 (?) vehicles sat around with no real role?  I'd have thought it would be best practice to secure the work and then get the vehicles, rather than the other way round?

Not sure about that mind, those buses have a value and I can't see GoAhead London just giving them away. They might not have a value on the accounts but that doesn't mean that some budgets haven't been passed around to fund the replacements in London, from GoNorthEast's budget, since they're gaining something.

Something with no value sold for £2k is £2k profit for GoAhead London which balances out the new bus depreciation partially.
