I once had someone get on an X24 asked for a "one week", after trying to charge her £2 (thinking she said "one way"), I then charged her for a £12.50 megarider (more muscle memory than anything), it was only after I'd done all that and she'd paid that she specified she wanted the £19 one to go to Newcastle!
And while we're here, if you're getting a single please specify your destination, rather than just saying "2 quid please", it'll clear up a lot of confusion particularly if the service is cut short, or if you are gonna just ask for a £2 single and not say where to, please read the destination board.
It would also be handy if drivers would bother finding the destination I specify rather than scrolling to find the first place with a £2 fare and putting that on the ticket
A few times now I've got on the X21 and asked for Newcastle and been given a ticket with Spennymoor on it. I know the fare is the same, but if I can guarantee if I got some arsey inspector on they'd pick up on it straight away!
It's so nice having Tap on Tap off on Arriva, no more faffing about talking to drivers, and with the new Durham day ticket it should (in theory) cap it at £2. It's a shame GNE haven't rolled it out considering they were the first in the region to trial it!
