RE: Boxing Day Services
(05 Dec 2023, 9:12 am)Aaron21 wrote Few odd ones to note
X11/X22 are running this year which is odd
84/85 are running
26 Jarrow to Lukes Lane
5 Jarrow to Boldon Asda
20/20A not running to Durham
35/35A split in 2
21 to Chester-le-Street

Pathetic running the 43, X10 and X11. 3 corridors which mostly duplicate each while the whole of the X7 and X9 corridors have no bus service at all.

It's not like they're dead bus routes which only carry 5 people.

Get rid of the X10 and run the X7, X9 and X11 then everyone is covered in SE Northumberland and North Tyneside (Burradon / South Gosforth / Quorum etc).

That's pretty normal, though.  Worse is that they pull the buses off from the termini quite a while before the "end of service", so if you're trying to get INTO the centre, you've got no chance unless you start quite early.  I got caught out by that one a few years ago, trying to get in from Wallsend, only watch a series of services turn up, disgorge passengers, and then head off NIS - I eventually realised that I was stuffed, and ended up walking from Wallsend back to Heaton.  (At least it wasn't too far!)

It makes sense to cater for the majority and if theres a flow to and from the town for the Newcastle game in addition to any shoppers heading to and from the sales, then they would be daft to ignore it.

It's an early kick off too, so should be interesting to see how busy services are on the morning.

It's the first time a lot of Washington has had a bus (areas 84/85 serve), but I think you'll get a decent amount heading to the Galleries or whatever for sales. It's normally quite busy over there on Boxing Day.

In the 19th Centrury there were virtually no buses at all unless you count the ones being pulled by horses or being propelled by steam.

Using irony.
It's 2023 and your stuck after 1800 pretty much. Oh and no skeleton service on NYD?
RE: Boxing Day Services
No 60 this year for Boxing Day, seems the 39 is a replacement? I’m not sure they usually run a 39 on Boxing Day? So is Chester Le Street the only part of County Durham getting a service?
RE: Boxing Day Services
Never mind boxing day - has anyone notice how hard it is to get an early bus on a Saturday morning compared to a weekday?? And are GNE doing there normal thing of running a Saturday timetable from xmas to new year?

Stagecoach Sunderland are doing the same, luckily I finish on the 22nd December and then I'm off work until the new year... shame for the people who aren't!

RE: Boxing Day Services
Despite the Saturday timetables, Pleased to see Stagecoach operating their 22X during the festive break. That will help those colleagues choosing to work from the office get in pretty quickly.

telling how busy the 22X is vs the X39, looks like SNE have retained the customers from the strike
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

In terms of arriva they’ve got 43, X10/X11 & X18/X21/X22

I'm sure GNE ran route 27 on Boxing Day a couple of years ago.

Maybe they see little commercial point if the Metro is running that day.

I can say with fair confidence that all these will be empty all day. As no-one uses the Nexus website in Northumberland as to put it polite it's crap, Northumberland Council haven't announced them anywhere and Arriva have boxing day down as no service.

Complete mess, as per usual.

That was marked before nexus decided last minute to change it to GNE & Phoenix

Don’t Northumberland County Council rely on Nexus for their bus service publicity?
