4911 was on the 17 yesterday, and has lost some of it's Cobalt branding, the logo and ''connecting you to the UK's largest...'' still remains, but the big Cobalt lettering has gone.

On a serious note, which depot/depots will 4906-9 end up at?, will 1 replace 8231 and cover at cls until 4931 is repaired?.

They've been at Saltmeadows for a week now. To me, that suggests that the plan hasn't been finalised and they are currently being stored until the plan has been finalised.
A number of B10BLEs are due to be withdrawn, some without replacement. 4906-09 will contribute to the withdrawal of some of the early B10BLEs in the fleet. Fire damaged 4931 and 8249 may play a part in the decision-making of the future fleet position too - especially if the latter has been withdrawn for good (which is certainly the likelihood).

4911 is a fantastic bus Smile - I wish they would refurbish it too, but I don't think it will get refurbished.

Refurbishment for a vehicle that will only last another 2 years max?

I guess that's why Bazza said he doubts it would get refurbished.

Providing their expected new home after withdrawal isn't the scrap man, I'd imagine 4911 and the other B10BLEs which haven't been refurbished will have their seats reupholstered to increase sale value (just like the MPDs last year).

Saw Prince Bishops branded 4991 around 10:30 this morning in Durham Bus Station and it was leaking fuel? all over the place.

I think someone pointed this out to the driver but it still left the Bus Station in service leaving a pretty big puddle.

EDIT: It's still out, so maybe I overreacted

I'm struggling to get my head around the branded spares that GNE have. I thought the whole idea of the Northern red buses was to provide cover if a branded bus was unavailable. The buses in question are the old TTX stock 3941-3 and 3962-5 surely these buses would be better used on the services the require double deck upgrades running older buses than 05 plates ie Pronto. Get the Presidents into red like the rest.

Also is it just me or are the new Red Gemini's a different shade of red to the house branded ones.

I think the problem is that just because a bus is newer, doesn't mean it's going to be better for the route. The ex 'Tyne-Tees Express' Gemini's have been killed on the 724?, X9 and X10 and some, such as 3964 are pretty unreliable.

The last time we brought this topic up it was said that these supposed 'spares' were now required due to service changes.

Q1 & Q2 doing a roaring trade today after the malfunction of the Millenium Bridge.

Tend to dimiss these servies somewhat but they do an important job linking the centres of Newcastle & Gateshead to important arts, education, government and residential locations

I went past on the Q2 around just after 4 and it was stuck in that position, explains why the Q1 was so busy when passing on the other side!

Glad it's the same as Whey Aye 5 - 0 was the most original brand idea and a good design (except I hate windows being covered)

It's only a minority of the branding that covers the window, so it doesn't really bother me.

Just shows you how rumours can turn out to be untrue. Before people were almost certain that it would look similar to the Coaster and Drifter but they were wrong. That livery actually looks better than I thought it would as well.
