Don't know about the second figure, but I'd say the first one is definitely right.

I was wondering if anyone has ever Purchased any Photos at Bus Rallies or off eBay, and have then scanned them onto their Computer before Uploading to Flickr etc.

As I have just found 30+ Bus Photos when having a looking for my copy GTA5, Which my Niece and Nephew hid a few weeks back, and it got me interested in Purchasing some old Photos from the Go-Ahead Gateshead/Coastline/Northern and Wear Buses Days, along with some Photos of GNE's Branded Services between 2006 and 2012.

Got no real interest in purchasing someone else's photos. I'd hope those people would use Flickr and share their work with others, just as many of us do with them.

You have to think. Many of our photos will be sought after in a few years time, because buses and their liveries won't be around forever.

That's true, Think what I might do instead is go out on the odd day over the next few months and Photograph everything there is to Photograph, so then i'll have nice collection of Photos to Upload in the Future, As there will a load fleet changes again in a few months, and a lot of Buses will be Withdrawn as a Result, Plus if Quality Contracts come into affect sometime in the Future, then there is even more Reason to get Photos while I can.

I've seen quite a few for sale at the bus shows, particularly older ones.

Guessing they may have formed the collection of older guys, who didn't have the inclination or possible ability to put them online.

Even looking on Flickr, there are photos which have a tagline about being from a bought collection and that the copyright is unknown.

RE: Anything and Everything
Copyright is the key thing to look for if considering purchasing old photographs of buses. Photos can be easily reproduced if one is not in possession of the original negative. So while some traders may claim that the copyright is transferred to the buyer upon purchase; an unscrupulous trader may hang onto the negative in order to reproduce and resell the same photo at another event/fair. If two people decide to upload the same photo to Flickr or whatever, then this has the potential to cause problems as each could claim that their copyright has been breached.

I don't have a problem with people hoarding photographs to sell at a later date. Some people share their work while others don't. If people are willing to pay for photographs of buses then so be it - it's a free market and it's not worth getting upset about. But if you are going to purchase an old photo, try and make sure it's the negative as the likelyhood of it being copied and resold is less than a print (if that makes sense).

RE: Anything and Everything
The opening sequence to the first On The Buses film is superb.

It really sets the tone and captures the essence of what the film is about.

Arguably it's all down hill from there, but it's a film I enjoy and definitely one of my guilty pleasures.
