7079 should be back at Riverside either today or tomorrow, so might be worth someone going for a walk round the back if they're in the area. Doubt I'll have time.

So that's a yes for the Lime B10's?

the 1998 ones will be withdrawn as of there current colour

but was just wondering if the painting for the 2000 ones will start in the next couple of months - so basically once the Lime gets its new buses, they can be sold straight away.. that's if theirs a buyer lined up.

If only some are being painted as citaro5284 suggests, I'd assume in this case that they're not repainting them to increase book value.

I don't see the point in repainting them either to make a few extra pennies. Perhaps they could just debrand them and sell them in green? I've noticed a lot of operators who buy vehicles don't seem to repaint the vehicles they purchase.

Smaller operators won't have inhouse painting facilities, so GNE could do it with theirs for a fraction of the cost. Not to mention it clears up and chips, scrapes, scratches etc. All of which would bring a value down.

and you don't get to see the independents running about in GNE colours.
A quick look on Flickr reveals a stack of older vehicles from days gone by, running about in the old corporate schemes.

There are some major roadworks starting in Birtley (as a result of the new Morrisons development) next week and lasting until July.

My new intern is from Birtley and brought a letter she'd got advising major disruption and delays.

Advisory chaos ahead for the Angel! (those drivers must hate Birtley)

(X22, X24, M2/3, X2, TB14 and 23 are on services affected list from Highways)

I beat you to it with 5257 in the Rare and Odd Workings section. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, but then again the 71 does get a lot of strange vehicles on it.

Thanks Dan, Thought it may of been another one, and is it just me or has whoever painted this also painted over the Front and Rear Lights

No but im sure it will be a case of them painting over the protection which stops a specific area from been repainted.

Anything apart from Tyres that a coat of paint isn't intended for, i.e. windows or lights, would be masked. It's not really practical to remove or mask tyres prior to painting, and you can usually gun wash it off anyway.

8245 is the next vehicle to enter the paintshop - should go in tomorrow providing they got all of the prep done today. I'd assume it's coming out in red!
Told you the painters were going to be kept busy, Michael! Tongue

Suppose it'll look nice when it's sat in the yard, or indeed at the side of the road Blush

All of the South Tyne batch have had a lot of work done recently and I'd hope that this will improve the performance of the vehicles.

Repainting the vehicles red is a good opportunity for the vehicles to be allocated to a different service too - but I guess we'll have to see what comes of that..!

Not completely red - there is a white 'stripe' across the front.

8245 hasn't even been repainted yet - where you getting this white stripe from?
