543 was on driver training yesterday also. I spotted her while on my Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition while having a small break at Fatfield Bridge.
I assume she was training "Silver Arrows" services...

She's been in a plain red base livery for about a week now and a note was made of it previously. She was on the 42 again today.

When the service changes come into effect from 02-06-13, services 61 & 2A/2C will interwork on sundays. So numerous drivers from Deptford are route learning the 2A & 2C routes. Likewise the services 60 & 42 will interwork all day on sundays.

RE: Go North East
They should know the 2A/2C route, deptford run that service... unless only certain drivers are contracted to the service?
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

2A/2C are operated by a different business unit to 61, so drivers from the other business unit need to learn them

Go North East - Part 9
A storey for you all.

Left the house this morning whilst it was chucking it down with rain. I had to remove a small stone from my shoe, and this I blame for my missing the 6:37 FabFiftySix from Park Lane. So I stood for ten whole minutes for the 6:47 service. As ever I was so pleased to be using stand S... why? Well, we all know how exposed it can be if the rain 'just happens' to be blown the wrong way by the wind. Eventually, now soaking wet, got on the 6:47 service which didn't pull in until the very last minute in spite of the bus and driver sitting in the parking lane doing nothing at all. After fifty minutes on the bus arrived at Wrekenton. We turned right into the bus link and I saw such as sight! Passengers being helped off the 6:37 service via the emergency door at the rear on the right hand side. I was confused by this, as there were no people jumping from the window and the bus was not on fire. Fortunately for my curiosity, the school librarian had attempted to board the 6:37 service when it had arrived a Wrekenton Bus Link but, oh deary me... the front doors had only completely malfunctioned and the driver nor any of the passengers had the strength to pull them open. In conclusion, I am satisfied that 5203 got its cummupence for leaving without me, and I have new found respect for 5204 which had to carry the heavy burden of two fifty-six bus loads!

The End....

Worrying that the doors couldn't be pulled open, when (I assume) there has been no impact damage. I'm pretty sure any doors used as emergency exits have to be able open with reasonable force applied.

RE: Go North East
5158 is also now branded for Centurion.

'Northern' B10BLE 4920 is making an unusual(?) appearance on the 38 today.

So has is just been re-engined? Is the livery and internal layout still the same?
And does anyone know what the plans are for it now - what with the future of the citaro artics on citylink looking glum?
RE: Go North East
6045 appeared on Scholars this afternoon.
3964 back at Gateshead at the moment - being typically useless 3964. She was sat in Park Lane on Wednesday too.
RE: Odd Allocations
Did anyone get the Lime B10 on the 34/34A this morning? Seen it going into Garden Farm when I was passing on the 50, but didn't catch the number.

RE: Go North East
Good points made here (below), which are worthy of some in depth consideration. May at least move discussion away from the mundane "X" bus is now wearing "Y" Brand, which are out of date and lack corporate identity! - OK - Rant over but following with thanks to:

Eagle vows to take on operators
by Passenger Transport on Apr 10, 2013 • 6:05 pm No Comments
A Labour government will take on the “vested interests” of private bus and rail companies, says shadow transport secretary Maria Eagle (pictured)
Labour will be “bolder” about taking on private bus and train operators if it wins the next general election, shadow transport secretary Maria Eagle vowed last week.
In the foreword of a new pamphlet, Socialising Transport – a strategy for the left, by Paul Salveson, a transport commentator, Eagle writes: “The New Labour approach was to be relaxed about the eye-watering profits being made by private train and bus companies.”
She continued: “A One Nation Labour approach will require us to be bolder about taking on the vested interests in the privatised rail and deregulated bus industries to get a better deal for fare-payers and tax-payers.”
Eagle said that Labour’s new, bolder approach for rail would mean “doing more to tackle the costly fragmented structure of the industry”. It would also mean extending the not-for-dividend model used for Network Rail to train operating companies. “That’s why, as a first step, Labour is opposing the reprivatisation of the Intercity East Coast service which has delivered £416m back to taxpayers since being
run by the government’s own rail company,” she wrote.
For buses, Eagle said Labour had to recognise the gulf between London and the rest of the country in the ability of elected transport authorities to set fares and plan routes.
“We legislated to make it possible in theory to reverse bus deregulation, but it remains difficult in practice,” she said.
“The next Labour government must do more to ensure the private bus companies can no longer stand in the way of elected transport authorities who are simply seeking a better deal for the tax-payers money already being put into local bus services.”
Responding to Eagle’s remarks, a spokesman for the Confederation of Passenger Transport said: “CPT firmly believes that partnership working between bus operators and local authorities/stakeholders is ultimately best for bus passengers. A commercialised market allows for competitive pricing structures, leads to improved services and a vibrant bus industry.

A strategy for the left
‘Socialising Transport – a strategy for the left’ by transport commentator Paul Salveson (pictured) sets out the basis of a “socialist transport policy”. Below is a summary of its recommendations for bus and rail transport:
Rail
Paul Salveson argues that the franchising system has not worked, and he wants a new social enterprise model to replace it. “We need a new kind of rail operator which combines many of the good things achieved by the private TOCs but with an ethical approach, founded on co-operative values, which recognises there is more to the business than the financial bottom-line,” he writes.
He continues: “It should be stressed that many senior railway managers would welcome being part of a social enterprise which puts people before profits rather than be at the whim of faceless international groups whose only concern is their ‘bottom line’.
Salveson says that regional franchises could be restructured as licences, with periodic reviews but not necessarily a compulsory competition, at periodic intervals. “If performance is good, why have to go through the turmoil and cost of a new competition?” he says.
A ‘social enterprise’ train operator could be composed of several bodies, including employees, passengers and local businesses. Salveson says that the obvious place to start would be Wales, which has a Labour Government and a franchise which expires in 2018.
Instead of reprivatising the East Coast intercity franchise, Salveson says that the current operator, Directly Operated Railways, should become the national ‘InterCity’ network – absorbing West Coast, Great Western, CrossCountry when current franchises expire.
Bus
Salveson welcomes Labour’s consideration of “deregulation exception zones”. “This represents a big step forward in Labour’s thinking,” he writes. “Deregulation ‘exemption zones’ could, in theory, be as wide as you want. Deregulation has clearly failed to deliver and making the most of exemption zones could help deliver a more efficient, passenger-focused bus network quickly and effectively.”
He argues that London’s regulated system has created a world-class bus network, although he makes no mention of the high levels of public subsidy that underpin its delivery. However, he does not believe that there is a single UK-wide solution for buses.
Meanwhile, he suggests that quality bus contracts could be used to merge some local bus networks with rail franchises to create one integrated transport provider in a defined area. “The ‘Syntus’ operation in western Holland is a combined bus and rail concession where drivers are competent for both bus and train driving, and buses and trains are totally integrated,” says Salveson. “This is not just about timetabling, but also fully integrated fares and ticketing, information services and physical interchange at stations.”

Below link is really interesting too!)

Maybe Quality Contracts are the way to go for future:
Lower Fares
Intgrated Transport
Single card like "Oyster" valid throughout region on ANY Operater
Nexus/LA7 manage quality, fares, routes, infrastructure, etc,,
END excess profiteering by Private bus companies
End Private Companies dictating terms and "demanding " subsidies on thin routes while enjoying high profits during peak times on heavily used routes.
Run a transport system via public elected authority (Nexus/LA7) for the travelling public
End Child Fares of £3.15!! for journeys compared to those in Tfl for a fraction!

Do you have a link to that article, Venturego? The two links provided are articles dated in 2011, rather than the one you pasted dated 10/04/2013.

It did get a little debate/conversation going when I posted those links initially... Not as much as hoped for though.

National Express
Assuming National Express work in a similar way to Megabus, does anyone know which boards/services are operated by vehicles within Go North East's fleet?

I know Mon-Fri, there are two done by GNE, departing Park Lane at approximately 10.40AM and 1.30PM (assuming the ones I've taken in Sunderland weren't delayed at the time of photographing them in December 2012). Not sure if times have been changed or anything like that though? Would appreciate any help.

Arrival times at Newcastle or Sunderland would be preferable! Smile

This affects all bus companies and not just Go North East, so surely should be on a thread of its own.

9133 was on the 58, I am glad this has finally moved onto another service, hopefully we'll see it on a few others before it departs GNE, That's if it ever does. Think GNE might be going for the Longest DemoBus Test.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/adammalarke...otostream/

Literally like 5 seconds after I took the photo of 9133 on the 58, 9132 pulled in going to Newcastle, so I done an Olympic Style Sprint to catch a ride on it. TBH I wasn't a fan of the Interior Design, especially the seats behind the driver's cab, which is where I sat as it was very busy, My other thought was that I was on a Optare Versa or a E200 Dart, I didn't feel like I was on a Wright Streetlite at all which is rather weird.

And Finally Washington Depot have received 6 Driver Swap Vans which are Fleet Numbered 1010-1016 and are in a Northern Red Base Livery with the Go NorthEast Logo towards the Rear. This has resulted in the Vans that were on hire being returned to Enterprise Van Hire at Blaydon.
