Arriva North East: Rare & Odd Workings - July 2014

Another E400 has just past me, which I'm guessing will be mine from Berwick. This is why coaches wouldn't work on the TTX by the way everyone - customers let down when anything besides a coach turns up, especially when we're talking about v. expensive coaches!

The 1433 to Berwick is 7453 now

I wonder if that's what I saw, opposed to an E400, as it was very much a last second sighting.

Complaining less about 7453 being on as I haven't been on a Lowlander yet (well, not properly... I had a short stint on one of Durham's examples on the 24).

They aren't to bad to be fair!

Couple of random MPD workings today saw 1743 on the 63 and 1753 trundling around on 9/27A's
Possibly worth mentioning that 1902 made it to Peterlee this morning on service 21A from Deaf Hill. It's on the start of a 28 board.

They're mint vehicles and the only low floor deckers that have lived up to the Palatine 2!

Three Pulsars on X10/X11. 1403 likewise.

7611 on X13

These allocations are shameful more than anything else.
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Redcar 3 deckers down I am told (good job 7490 arrived today!) - so 4080 stood in on X93 today. Left Middlesbrough completely wedged at 1020. Not good.

My condolences to whoever was driving......

I love Prestiges - but I hear they are painful to drive!

Aye I passed 4651 on the 0950 (Redcar diagram) this morning.

4707 on X4 was the only real noteworthy performance that I saw today.

I'm told 4080 is OK to drive. And 4044.

Not much of an Arriva expert - but GNE's Chester drivers constantly complained about driving DAFs - saying they were the worst buses in the depot!

I recall when they were allocated to the Stockton-board X2s - 4052 (?) was an absolute nightmare when I had it from Durham to Chester, but that's the kind of sadistic 'nightmare' I get from a DAF Wink

I also remember one legend of a driver giving me a lift on 4007 from the bottom to the top of Chester.

I never got on with 4052, but it's better than some of them we have currently at Stockton. Thankfully some of the worst ones are due to be withdrawn imminently, just waiting for our B10BLEs to transfer from Ashington (still none as of 1345 today!)

Odd (though not for Arriva!) that they are getting rid of refurbished ones rather than the likes of 4037 etc, but I suppose they'll all be gone soon so doesn't really matter!

Likely that they fall out of fleet in order of condition(mechanical)/MOT/tax expiry, rather than numeric order.

I'm told the transfers will take place over the weekend when there are drivers available.
