Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - September 2014

RE: Arriva North East - Latest
They do a 85/685 to carlisle, then a full 185 and then a hours break in Carlisle then a 685/85 back to Newcastle
(01 Sep 2014, 10:52 am)northern156 wrote I was trying to work it out this morning, as it supposedly leads on from the 685. I'm not sure there are any more short runs to Hexham any more. Not sure because the Northumberland County Council timetable is different to the Arriva one on their website - it doesn't include the first bus into Carlisle Mon-Sat mornings.

I think all 85/685s run straight through to Carlisle now, excepting X85s which go to Hexham - but there are two eastbound ones in the morning and two westbound ones in the evening.

If the 185 vehicle does run light from Jesmond, I don't think the PVR would be the same for the amount of Omnicities they have though??

North East need to change their displays. The orange on black Hanovers are well past their sell by date, the white on black is much more clean and modern. I like what Go North East have done with theirs, but this is all down to my taste.

Prefer the Sapphire Livery on the Pulsars if I'm Honest.

Looks good in Sapphire livery, looking forward to them entering service 5/5A very soon.

I second this! Orange is dated, white is just more crisp and to be honest, it's very Arriva it fits in with their liveries.

Quick few updates from the Arriva stable...

4045 is now parked up ready for disposal at Blyth, while 4068 has returned to Redcar. 4092 is parked up at Redcar, although 4095 is due to re-appear this week, the situation is very fluid at present. Streetlite 1560 has arrived at Redcar to start familiarisation.
7511 had migrated to Jesmond by yesterday and should move to Blackburn today for refurbishment.
4506 entered service yesterday at Stockton on service 28, while similar 4508 has gone away for accident repairs, presumably at Gardiners.

Even if it was just for Sapphire and Max services, it would make them stand out more from the rest of the services. See if we can jab Arriva with the idea stick and get them to sort it!

1550-73 already have front White LEDs - reason 1513-23 don't is because that hadn't been decided as a Sapphire standard then, and 7522-8 don't simply because 7501-9 retained their old screens when they were refurbished.

Probably as soon as they are branded etc.
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
Just out of interest, do depots have 'trade plates'?

I can see no reason for them, other than to collect vehicles that are not currently 'taxed'.

In this instance, new vehicles were delivered by the manufacturer with new registrations that could only be used after 1st September, so that ferrying the vehicles from their delivery point by operator staff was 'difficult' - if not impossible (without trade plates).

Hopefully they come out soon because I love it when new buses come into service.

The new "MAX" branded Enviro400s appear to be migrating to Ashington now, with 7533(?), NK64 EEU, being seen heading in that direction earlier today.

NK64EES and NK64FLW reported there yesterday.

Do you think they'll be out anytime soon or will they have to be launched before they go out

They should be branded within the next week or so I would imagine, then they might want to do a launch event, I'll try and confirm!

In the meantime, 4068 entered service at Redcar today on 22/64s

Could they wait until the X15 ones are refurbished as well and do a joint launch, you know for "Maximum Impact" Wink
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
When are the x15 buses due to be finished because one of the drivers said the x18 buses need to be out in use quickly because they want to free the 09 enviros for refurb for x14 and the they're refurb into some 57 reg east lance double deckers from yorkshire but that will not be near the end of the year
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
I've been to Thorntons recently and it looks like two of Ashingtons Olympians and the Ikarus Citibus are stored there. Ashington Dart 1790 has been painted into the updated Arriva livery and the 57reg Enviro400 Sapphire refurbs have had problems, one was 7508's doors fell off and 7482 replaced it. 7482 is back in service after the gearbox was repaired and was last seen on 35/35a yesterday.
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
Also, the 100 College service extends to Blyth at peak times (but is still operated from Ashington depot), 4515 was at Ashington at 3-ish yesterday.

Service
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
1700 X1 appeared to be a mystery this evening, as was the 1715. Neither showing on the live map anywhere along the route. I ended up on the 1710 57A, which was 9 mins late by the time it got to me. The 1730 was the only one I could find coming from Newcastle, and it was showing 14 minutes late on the map.

The 100 seems to interwork with the 35. At 1300 today, the 100 arrival in Morpeth went on to the 35 and the 35 arrival went on to the 100.

Yes it has transferred down from Blyth. Unsure as to what it has replaced as yet. 4005 has left Blyth for scrap.

4502 is the latest B10BLE to arrive at Stockton. 1002 has departed for scrap.

I don't know if it has replaced anything, I noticed it in there last night
