RE: Compass Community Transport
Thats the one!
If I hadnt seen the rear of the bus, Id have been telling people about the Renown they had working the 79.
Its one crossbreed of a vehicle mind, with it having the old style square lamps, rather than the rounded version common on the GNE or ANE cadets.

The Compass Cadet has the square headlights and solid Wright Logo similar to the Renowns, opposed to the GNE Cadets
The older GNE Cadets (<2004) have square headlights. As seen here.
Although there are some deviation on the 2004 plates, as some are Merits (square) and some Cadets (round). Same buses underneath though, just dealer difference under Volvo as opposed to DAF.

Stanley used to operate with that group that went bust that I can't remember the name of!
That former company was Connect.

Thanks Kuyoyo, was on the tip of my tongue. I don't get why Nexus have retendered out when Stanley seem to manage operating this fairly short route by themselves

(28 May 2013, 4:12 pm)tyresmoke wrote I would guess Stanley took over on a short term basis until the end of the current contract. Re-tendering will then take place just as it would if Connect had operated until the end of the contract term.
But why 2 companies to operate one route? Surely can't be more cost effective than using one company?
RE: Compass Community Transport
Today marked the first day of Compass operating the 23 and they used Optare Solo YJ08 PKU today.

See previous post about the matter.

The old dears who patronize the service will never be able to read that
That's better than how the 8X's blind is programmed!
Ugh, see below:

I think it was the Sun tbh as it was directly above my head at the time of the photo, as for the OAP's there was a canny few of them like.

Someone had said to me that Barley Mow Estate can't cope with the bigger vehicle but Classic used to send a double decker to it and the school is served by coaches all the time
Didn't the 183 go round there with nationals?

I'd say from judging what I've found on Google Maps, it's not much different to what the buses going down Knightside Gardens in Dunston have to cope with. It looks like a squeeze in some places, but should probably be fine.
