Carver saying pre-match that the players were ready for it, and knew what it meant, was clearly all balls.

I woke up this morning, and wasn't even exited for the game. We've not played anywhere near okay since Pardew left...

And Carver wants to be manager next season haha...

There hasn't been fight or passion for a long time, even when Pardew was in charge.

Oh aye, not saying that we were going out like lions every game with Pardew, but this is appalling

Obviously Carver has a lot to blame but the players have to take a lot of the blame also. I think some of the foreign players don't understand the magnitude of this game! The only players on the pitch (for NUFC) that looked interested were Jonas Gutierrez and Ryan Taylor

Or, as a counterpoint, one might argue that some overstate the magnitude of this game.

At the end of the day - a derby is a derby. As well as this country derbies happen in other parts of the world too. Why would a foreign player not understand the concept of a derby? Why is the Tyne-Wear derby more important than any other derby?

To be honest I wouldn't know.... Because I don't really care! I'm from Gateshead not Newcastle and support my local team (Gateshead)

There is a deep rooted malaise at the club and it needs sorting out.
I often think back to the 09/10 season when they had been hammered in a pee-season game (Leyton Orient I think it was) and the players who gave a toss, voiced their concerns and let rip - seemed to galvanise the team. Those who didn't, went on their way and haven't done much since.
It is strange, that not long after arriving, Pardew got rid of each and every one of those players. He replaced them, with more gifted, but arguably less passionate individuals.

He was so bad he ended up getting sacked and never worked in footy again

John Beck and Bobby Saxton had interesting temperaments!

Remember that, they got beat about 6 or 7-0

Most managers from that era will have had interesting temperaments Big Grin

Premier Passions and a suitably embarrassed David Kelly and Paul Bracewell.
Bobby Saxton was Jim Smiths assistant at Newcastle and was known for his language.

One of the worst manager temperaments I've ever seen is Steve Bleasdale who was Peterbourgh's manager in the show 'Big Ron Manager' - He resigned 1 hour before a game!

From the Sky Bet Championship:
Blackpool have been relegated
Wigan have sacked their manager Malky Mackay

Well a win for Gateshead today, but a win too late!

1-0 over Altrincham thanks to Michael Rankine's wonder strike
