Is it nostalgia when nobody on the forum is old enough to remember it?
I was having this discussion about the housing estate formerly known as 'The Bronx', now practically re-built and named 'North View', in Blaydon.
While my friend and I can remember the estate and knew about the people and its problems, my friend's four year-old son is not going to have the same memories as we have. He may pick up some tales here and there from the likes of us, but to him, the estate has always been what it is now. Therefore, I'd argue you cannot have nostalgia by proxy as it something you have to feel and experience.
I'm not nostalgic for steam engines or route-masters as they were before my time. However, the affection I have for DMU's, HST's or Atlanteans or Olympians will not be shared by some of the younger members of the forum for the exact same reasons.
