It's not really as big an issue on the Red Kite - the timetable clearly states that the double deckers which operate the service will only feature Wi-Fi, rather than all the features which the single decks do.
It does pose an issue on the indiGo North Tyne services, though, as there's no way of differentiating the older Optare Solos from the newer examples.
