It's not really a brand as such? Something created by I imagine the city council to promote Sunderland and gain tourism(!) and trade.
It isn't just on buses also; VTEC's 43274 has the tag/logo on it also. Indeed I'd say the same motive behind decorating up a powercar and promoting a new service to/from the capital.
