Hexham depot have operated this service since Arriva days, except for a short while when it was operated by Go North East's Winlaton depot after GNE won the contract from Northumberland C.C. At the time Hexham was still with Arriva.
The 74 is regularly operated by a Solo or a Citaro. I am surprised how popular the service actually is, perhaps a full-size bus is more appropriate. I only travelled a short distance. I would use the service more if they ran it more frequently. A return ticket on an infrequent service is not a good experience.
Thanks for the information. I only recently discovered the existence of the service. I wonder if they will continue to run it.

I wonder how many people travel from Hexham/Stamfordham to Newcastle?
I don't know why I only recently discovered the 74.
