Not sure you've worked that one out correctly, Andreos.

The old secured section of the 238 which was taken on commercially on a trial basis, between Hall Lane and Barnwell, has been replaced by the resurrected 79 service which has been awarded to JH Coaches under tender. The re-routing of the 71 via Burnside Estate has nothing to do with the 238?

The 71 being routed via Burnside Estate makes up for the loss of the 36 in this area - so this still maintains four buses per hour (with the 35) between here and Houghton-le-Spring.

Those travelling between Fencehouses Front Street and Dairy Lane are few and far between I suspect, but anyone doing this journey can still do it by riding through Houghton-le-Spring on service 4 (which is more frequent than service 36 anyway). If people don't want to ride through, then they could always walk to Chilton Moor (hardly a massive distance) to catch services 35 or X20 which will serve both stops on Dairy Lane like the 20A and 36 do at the moment.
