I agree, its always worth a shot, even if on a night, least they would get the 39 back (along in a different form)
I've forgot what the normal timetables were, its been that long ago since a normal service....

Only thing i would change is the Chester Road - Pennywell - Prestbury Road - Hastings Hill section
Maybe have 2 go its current route and the 2A via Pennywell?, least then it keeps the Broadway and Grindon Mill section with a bus to Washington.
