It’s not GNE but the Arriva services between Hartlepool and Durham can be quite nice going though some rural areas. That’s if you ignore the uncomfortable seats on the Enviros on 57/57A.

As for GNE though the 10 can be ok especially the parts around Hexham and Corbridge.
