In fairness there's space for them, something like the Blyth and Tyne line would be ideal for them. Charge up from Benton to Newcastle and then run the rest of the line.
I think the bigger problem is their awful ex London Stock and the PR from running them would be terrible. Pacer v2 pretty much. There's also plans from Porterbrook to convert their Class 350's similarly which will be much more desirable not to mention the Hydrogen Flex project which is the future for longer lines imo, believe they have a 600 mile range with a 15 minute refuel so would be ideal for all the local North East routes really.
