The problems are the other side of the A1 where there's next to no bus service but I guess this funding doesn't cover over there so it's down to Nexus to deal with. The X46 running on an evening and Sunday being the obvious answer.
Is that route going to be quicker than via Gosforth? My experience of getting through Kingston Park is that it takes ages due to the Metro Line and congestion. I can also understand people not wanting to have to change on to the Metro at Kingston Park to get to Regent Centre and Gosforth when they currently have a direct route. I know if Arriva stopped the 44 at Regent Centre expecting us to swap on to the Metro I'd be straight back in the car.
If they extended the 49 journeys during rush hour to cover Gosforth and ran evening and Sunday journeys it would probably be less of an issue (there's a lot of use at those times, people like their beers), but I guess as you say maybe an x46 could work.
Is there any news of if GNE will continue to run the Q3 from Wallsend to Newcastle (I've missed it if they have). It will be a real shame to lose that Ouseburn and St Peters link from town.
