There was going to be a direct route from the universities, RVI, SJP and Eldon Garden out to St James Boulevard but the plans were scrapped, thats why there are rather large spaces behind Eldon Garden and particularly behind Gallowgate (around where Sainsburys and the Sky office are located)
Eldon Square Station was rebuilt on the premise this would happen.
Unfortunately Newcastle is growing and this equals more people and more traffic and much like other cities, Newcastle is suffering. Newcastle is a medieval city which had a 60s revival, a 70s and 80s collapse and a 90s to 00/10 revival and its VERY compact which throws up all sorts of problems
