It's a similar story on the mobile phone market. A new iPhone is released with x, y and z features, which allegedly deliver an improved user experience, but is priced higher than the previous model when first released. Manufacturers know that they can do this, because although some people will wait until the price goes down, a lot of people will still want to be one of the first to have this new product.
Mercedes Citaros are expensive regardless, simply due to the fact they're of a high quality build... A Euro 6 one is even more expensive though.
They are very high quality build, shame they cost so much...
