Yep because those 8 passengers would be losing a link and would be trapped on the estate despite by my reckoning (roughly) the furthest point it serves being no further than a 5-10 minute walk from Durham Road for it's services or Birtley Lane for the M services.
And councillors love an easy vote winning cause but I imagine it would be difficult to defend this at a time when Nexus is suffering financially
Give those people discounted taxi cards or reduce the service to 1 every few hours instead of its current half hourly service
To be honest, would they really need Taxi Cards? By what the driver said, the service is getting on average around 0.2 passengers a day. If they appreciate the service that much, and if it is that important to them, they should learn to use it! Why Nexus is funding something that only carries a fraction of a person per day is beyond me?
