England and Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson has been arrested on suspicion of sex with 15-year-old girl.
Durham Police said in a statement: "A 27-year-old man was arrested earlier today on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl under 16.
"He remains in police custody and is helping officers with their enquiries."
News of the arrest of a Premier League footballer was revealed earlier in The Sun newspaper.

2. Did he have sex thinking she was 16 or over, in which he can be forgiven, as it can be quite easy to think some young lasses are old enough, many a bloke has been caught out that way...including yours truly
and a lad I know went on the Sex Offenders Register throughOne thing I think should be done in cases like this, Men should be granted anonymity when initially arrested for Sex Offences, and not named until they are charged and goto court, as a potential allegation can potentially ruin peoples lives in the event of a false allegation
