As I understand it, the contract doesn't stipulate a set amount of buses required, and it is a case of Go North East supplying how many vehicles are needed on the day. As such, any extra workings on the 327 service come out of Percy Main's set number of double deckers which cover their scholars services.
Riverside (and previously Gateshead) have provided extra buses for years now, when required, never mind since January. It's more unusual for Riverside to cover extra workings on a weekend (as none of their double deckers are required for scholars), but a number of Percy Main's Tridents are on long-term VOR at present, hence the shortage with Riverside filling the void.
Are all of the Northern ones VOR?
Never saw them for ages.
