I believe a double decker is required due to the school runs at the beginning and end of the day.

I haven't seen too many single deckers on the 448 (and therefore 434) recently, with it being a red thing or a Gemini 2 every day I've seen it in the past few weeks.

That's correct.

Volvo B10BLEs allocated to the 434 on Saturdays, when there is no double deck contractual requirement for scholars service 448.

That'll explain why I can never remember seeing a B10BLE on it then!

It isn't a issue to do with height.

The reason 3941 didn't last long was because of it's reliability which they then tried with 3888 which I believe hasn't been all that great either as everytime I've tried to photo the 434 it's been 6116/6117 (Which is the same height as the Gemini 1s). Additionally there isn't really anywhere on the 434 route that has issues with trees. Not so sure about the 448 which interworks with the service, and then again the service has always used double decker buses.

The route needs a reliable vehicle especially when at it's nearest point (Bedlington Station), the bus is 12 miles away from Percy Main Depot

(16 May 2016, 7:59 pm)S813 FVK wrote 547 isn't withdrawn yet. I suspect it is being held as a replacement for 5292 until it returns (6037 was doing this job but it was withdrawn due to a mechanical issue that would be too costly to fix).

On the subject of allocations though, does anybody know what the AM scholars 831 runs onto? From what i was aware, the bus did the AM service, 689 and then PM service but recently, it has been turning left out of the school as if it was heading back to Stanley to do a V7/V8 or 30.

I believe it now runs a 30 starting from Lanchester. The previous journey from Stanley to Lanchester having been made school holidays only in the last service changes, presumably the bus that used to do that trip now being required somewhere else.

Ah right thanks. I remember that change now - the 30 affected is the journey that ran into the school. Ive even seen it heading into Lanchester with 831 still on the destination, too.

It was 6024 on the 794 / 681 scholars service - it's operated by Stanley, not Percy Main.

Which bridge will this be? As most of Arrivas types of deckers (B7TL/Olympian/E400/DB250) have operated the 30/34 in the past and there has been no incidents.

There were also no low bridges on the former 30 and 34...!

And for trees - no trees that caused problems for double deck operation on the 30 or 34 either!

Is the Wright Streetlite WF still on the 82/82A/82B or has it moved over to the 85/86 this week?

EDIT from my post above, It was actually 5167 and that vehicle is a Riverside one so 5157 hasn't gone to Riverside.

Apologies.

I think it started its trial on the 85/86 on Saturday so should be on there I believe.

5211 - it was loaned to Washington for the morning run out (similar to 5213 at Chester-le-Street recently) before going to Saltmeadows for repaint.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2016
Looks like 4903s transfer to Stanley is a bit more permanent than a loan since it has been noted on the official GNE allocation document which doesnt usually happen. Could this see off 547?
