This time it is the Kane Gang.
Several of their videos were shot locally and one tune provided the inspiration for the theme tune for a long-running TV show based in the region!
25 #NEBpoints for the person who can identify the song from the examples below and name the TV show.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lGffrSPt5k0

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k7jBmZC1KO0

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q_qTPj-pDmQ (how they managed to get a days filming at the town moor without it raining is anyones guess...)

Keep your eyes peeled for my next locally based 80's (maybe early 90's) tunesters.
Undecided whether to choose Ant & Dec, Jimmy Nail or Prefab Sprout.

Nobody has tried for those NEBPoints yet. Wont give the answer away just yet.

However, as threatened previously, I've been listening to more locally based tunesters.
It wasnt Jimmy Nail nor Ant & Dec.
It has been Witton Gilbert's greatest export since the 726 did a loop around the village on its way back to Newcastle.

Prefab sprout have done more to put Whitton Gilbert on the map than the local sausages, or even Tom Robinson, who mentions it a lot.

"Hot Dog...Jumping Frog...Witton Gilbert".

Syllable wise. It fits.

It's a while since there was owt posted in this thread.
Anyway, to continue my 'local bands' theme from last year. Smoove and Turrell. A bit funk and some local scenes in the video too!

The Toy Dolls came on my Spotify playlist yesterday - although it wasn't this specific 'local bands' song, I had to share it.

https://youtu.be/qFyRhgCvqaU

More local filming locations, although there was no sign of the pit heap in the video and I'm unsure if Dierdrie Barlow's shenanigans led to a follow up 'tribute' song.

Another local band. This time Hartlepool based 'Sneaker pimps'.

A 'bit' more modern than some previous submissions!

Can't confirm if the video was filmed on The Headland or not unfortunately.

Another Sunderland based band and other ditty dedicated to a TV star of the day (not Dierdrie Barlow this time).

No local connections as far as I'm aware with this one!

Was never really in to these at the time, but rediscovered them recently.

Of course, this video was before Sarah Cracknell did the vocals. Always found her the most attractive feature of the group, even if I wasn't in to their music.

That one often gets an airing on 6 music. Very easy on the ears.

I am listening to Mel Crawford's breakfast show on BBC Sounds. She is at this point playing Gladys Knight & The Pips' Midnight Train to Georgia.

It's ageless. And as huge a genre as rock and pop. I tend to hop between 6 music and radio 3.

(fun fact: when I left my pompous, abusive twit of an ex, I slipped a CD of his favourite opera in with all of mine, even though I could take it or leave it)

I used to enjoy seeing the Northern Symphonia, back in their city Hall days when I lived in Gateshead. Not had chance since moving further away.

Haven't done one of these for a while!

Anyway, it's a song and there's footage of Newcastle in the mid-80's.
The reason I've never included it before, is because not all of the video is filmed in Newcastle, North East (or even the UK), unlike all of the other ones shared previously - that have the NE featured prominently.

It's been a while since I did one of these.

An unusual one, because all of the other videos I've shared filming locally, have mainly been local bands.
This one is unusual in that California based rock band Ugly Kid Joe recorded one of their videos at Marsden and Sandhaven beaches, South Tyneside.

If you look closely, you can see the last Scandinavian Seaways journey between North Shields and Esbjerg.

But, here is Teesside band President, enjoying a European Summer, on the pier in Saltburn.

You wait for one. Then two come along together. Sort of.

Can't remember this one at all.
But here's The Wildhearts. https://youtu.be/yE90CbWeKTU?feature=shared

Jumping on the Newcastle bandwagon well before Sam Fender was a twinkle in his father's eye.

Were kind of big in the early 90s. Appeared on the pages of Kerrang a lot. Copied an album of theirs I found in Gateshead Library called 'Phuq'. Thought it was pretty average, to be honest.
