Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2016

(27 Nov 2016, 3:37 pm)Andreos1 wrote There's the rumours that have been mentioned for the 49's (saw standing loads the other day when the X66 was running in 3's). The rumours about the 27 have gone quiet, but it would maybe be worth trying to work out where those Mercs are going to end up - if replaced at some point in 2017.

I would imagine they'll be on the 49's until at least next year though... fair enough if they are moving else where but seems daft to put a Citaro on the X5 timetable and then not allocate then from the day of the changes.

Ethusiasts will notice more than normal passengers though.

I've heard beginning of next year January February for 49s with the Mercs going on the 12&28

Didn't busman T mention that Chester didn't operate mercs and couldn't see them getting any. Could maybe imagine the 28s getting younger solars though.

While it is possible and not down to me, I don't like the idea of upgrading the 12/12A but not the X30/X31 despite being two completely different services.

What was the service that had branded Cadets (?) on the timetable and didn't actually get what was being advertised? It may have been a Deptford service. Can't remember 100%

You say this, wonder how many people have picked up on the fact that the Waggonway timetable depicts a Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown with the Waggonway branding and is not the same colour as the buses currently used on the service. My point being, they put a Renown on the timetable but then put Solar's on it instead, so what appears on the timetables aren't necessarily going to become a reality, that said I think the X5 could potentially get Citaro's in the near future.

And further to the above point, the Northern timetables show a branded B9 as opposed to an Omnidekka.

That being said, the switch to a Citaro when they already had a solar diagram strongly suggests that something is going to happen soon.

That was my exact point but i explained it wrong and you explained it better Tongue

But ye the X5 should be in line to get Citaro's in the near future

Have the Scanias ever been off the 93/94? Think they must be some of the only buses that haven't changed allocations

They haven't, All ( excluding 5225/6 ) remain in good shape for quite a demanding route, Various steep climbs along the route.

Tongue, i do think the loop should be upgraded though.

I think the Citaros would suit black, if they kept it black.

Some of the Scanias on the Green Arrow 97 are older than the Loop examples, most have been on since the Highwayman days. Some are 51 reg examples and in my opinion should take priority over the loop.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2016
Don't forget when the Loop buses were new and 5227 5228 they were new to Chester depot and used on the 21 when it was branded as 24/7 . Not surprisingly they were shipped out pretty quick
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2016
Be surprised if the 28s got any sort of upgrade. Though the current Solars seem even less reliable than the DAFs where (and those heaps carried on for years after they should have) Chester seem to cover it well enough with plain red Solars and Streetlite subs.

Rather have mercs any day a streetlite in black would look like a hearse

I would have thought whatever method used then (whether its smoke signals, morse code or mobile phone) would be suitable on a night too.

Are radio's needed on the x10 but not the x9?
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2016
Whoever was driving 4967 this morning on the Q3 wants his licence taken away.

Doesn't indicate on Percy St and tries to swing in from the right into Haymarket. Narrowly avoiding a parked 306 which has to be moved so he can swing around and blocking the road to an ambulance.

Just lazy

Passed me heading north on the A19 earlier on an X9 so should be on the 1030 off Eldon Square I believe

Didn't some Scanias on the Green Arrow receive upgrades to make them Euro 5 equivalent?  Government funding which came via Gateshead Council IIRC.  Maybe this will have some bearing on where they end up?
