Go North East: 2015/16 Financial Year Order Predictions

It's value simply wouldn't decrease enough over the course of a year. Dan has already stated that Euro 6 vehicles are very expensive, and operators are under more pressure to buy these, and a business works like this; spend as little money as possible...

The Streetdeck isn't one of the most expensive, it's one of the cheapest, GNE also get it slightly cheaper as the have a relationship similar to Stagecoach and ADL.

But ADL is majority owned by Brain Souter ( The Founder of Stagecoach ) and a few of his Investmenrt partners so are literally buying new buses off themselves.
Wrightbus is a different company to Go Ahead

(11 Feb 2016, 8:16 pm)Dan wrote But at the same time, Wrightbus are going to want that bus back eventually to sell as dealer stock to a bus operator. This bus presently remaining in the fleet is probably to support the product launch of the new Wright StreetDecks, much like the Optare Solo on loan to Hexham Depot.

The longer that is in use with Go North East, the more it will depreciate in value. I would expect it to depreciate at a rate of £15,000/year.

Are all the buses on order this year Euro 6?

Just if the Euro 6 model is expensive then i thought they would of gone with Euro 5?

Evidently not, based on the reply you got!

You'd think you had stolen his last Rolo or something.

Not really.

The difference is that Stagecoach buy buses in their hundreds. Go North East have only bought seven units, as new buses aren't procured by the group at the same time.

I think that's a good idea, imagine if Go-Ahead allowed GNE to buy about 100 buses again, just over a quarter? of the older fleet could be gone in a year.

We'll end that there, seeing as we've more important things to discuss here. Such as Go North East's 2015/16 orders.

They could of bought 100 Streetlites all in one as opposed to 20-25 each year.

Why? Staggering your fleet attrition means that you can put similar size orders in every year and have a constant refresh and cascade process.

That's true, imagine having to replace at least 100 buses a year, of the same kind.

No further StreetDecks have arrived.

They weren't at the docks - they were in an industrial estate at Newtownabbey, being PDI'd.

BIB: X7 can't be operated by deckers due to a low bridge on the route between Ryhope and Seaham
BII: I see, if the 21 does get new stock (and it would need more than 17 - given the PVR at present is 17, I would guess 20 giving an extra spare for the X21), I can't see the B5LHs going on 35/36 or 6/X70/X71/X84/X85. 27s anyone?
