Yeah just depends who is awarded the contract really.

Could increase passenger numbers on the Tynedalexpress too, with a service Kielder.

Stephenson Ind Est might not show on the timetable for clarity, I'd generally assume that it's between Concord and Birtley?

I can confirm it was 8250(NA52 BVC) which you had seen, which appears to of Temporarily joined the Driver Training Fleet at Riverside Depot as it has an L Plate on the front, 8251(NA52 BVD) is also at Riverside possibly for the same reason although it wasnt parked alongside 8250 and the other Driver Training Vehicles.

As you all know, we were out testing the Next Stop Announcements last week and I did say I liked Brian Moore as opposed to Stu Elmore. Don't know why, but I had a favourite announcement as well, I cannot tell you why I liked it, I just did......

How long on average does it take to record all Next Stop Announcements? Obviously it depends on the length of the route but i reckon i could do it.

We don't get involved with the recordings - that's organised by another department and it's down to the radio stations to record them as soon as they can.

The testing is what takes time. It involves doing a full round trip on the 8, 8A, 45, 46, 78, and 78A. Both sets of routes are quite lengthy, so you can understand why the announcements aren't working yet (especially when citaro5284 and I have many other jobs to be doing!)

We've done a full round trip on services 45 and 46 already, and the Stanley - Consett section of services 78 and 78A. I think citaro5284 is doing the remainder of the "Coast & Country" routes tomorrow.

Of course, there are some things that may need tweaking and suchlike. I went through all of the scrolling messages this morning to ensure that they were all spelled correctly and the grammar was spot on.

I'd love to do one - probably sapphire X21/X22. I might get sick of hearing my voice when I reach Newcastle though haha

It'd be wasted on the X21/X22. They're never working.

Talking of which, we got a laugh in graphics this morning...

We got a sheet and me with my eagle eye spotted that they had spelled grammar 'grammer' in the sentence that told us to make sure our spelling and grammar was correct. I pointed it out and the first response i got off the teacher was 'oh she did it'.

Stu Elmore would be great for Sapphire. Not too jumpy jumpy like S&K but not as boring as Jenny.

I can't listen to my own voice without cringing, I once had to do a voice-over for a animation project at school, this was probably the first time I've heard my voice and it sounded awful, I sounded like someone from down Leeds, Wakefield way after a night on the drink.

When you click onto the service, it displays journeys in both directions. Is it a new feature?

No - always been like that.

That version of the app is still in "BETA" stages, so you're likely to find odd bugs here and there like that.

I'd imagine that when the new website is rolled out, a new app will follow. Not sure where the May date came from for its release - the blog post only stated that the features they were looking to implement and they were asking for opinions.

Do you know when the new website will be 'rolled out'?

Drop them a tweet? If they know the answer, they'll be upfront with you and tell you.

When it's ready! Tongue

I'm stunned that a new-look website has caused quite so much interest - it seems to be a fairly regular occurrence having last been updated April 2013.

When the new website is updated, will the live map be introduced then?
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2015
I was just about to mention this, it would be so much easier is Go North East would do that to locate buses, and this would probably mean that the Facebook page won't be used as much as people would be able to locate where their bus is! In some cases I wish that I had arriva on my back door just because of the live map.

GNE customer services already uses the app to locate the bus for the passenger queries on facebook.

Ive got Arriva on my front door and the App is useless, really it only tells me that the bus is running, first of all when the Arriva App came out the live map was about 80% correct, but since their updated their App, I would say it has falling below average.

Live map I don't use now, as when your on the bus and you got your live map on the phone, the blue dot is your location and its never next to the bus icon. also im waiting for service 24 at Oakerside and the live map feed showing that the bus is at Horden traffic lights and the meantime the bus has arrived and going next to the A19, and the live map still showing that the bus is at Horden.

Only thing I use on the Arriva App is the timetable which I can see the blue line going down the timetable which shows me where the bus is within a few minutes of the timetable.

I just hope that if GNE decides to do this live App thing that their get all the bugs out of it first.

My reply to this post from May 31st, the May thread is now closed: "Looking through the depot allocations I notice that there were depots located at Consett and Blackhill. A friend and I were actually discussing the old depot at Consett last week. According to my friend, the old Consett depot was located at the end of Sherburn Terrace approximately where Croxdale Autocentre and Ash Grove are now. No reason to doubt him, but is this true? Also, do you know where the Blackhill depot was located? "

1. As far as I can remember, Croxdale Autocentre seems to be built on the same site as where the Northern Consett garage was.
2. Blackhill depot (ex Venture Transport) was situated on Back Park Road at Blackhill. To reach it, you went down the hill from Consett along Park Road then turned left near where the 45 service makes a right turn into Derwent Street. The area has changed a lot since the depot closed in the early 1980's. It didn't last long once the steel works was closed in 1980(?).

I don't mind the Arriva app too bad bar one or two bugs. For example it showed that my partners bus was swimming around one of the lakes in Gosforth Park.

But seemed to work well last Thursday right until the bus my partner was on broke down between Chester Le Street and Chester Moor.
