Remember, the Enviro 200 has been trialled with Go North East already (was allocated to services 39, 42 and 60/61 while at Deptford). If the Enviro 200 proved to be superior over other vehicles in the fleet, I think some would have been purchased last year.

And it'd be yet another vehicle type to manage, maintain and have spares for. Sad

Forgive my ignorance (I unknowingly use both terms for the same thing), but what is the difference?

With the destination blinds are there a few types, Im not familar with how it all works to be honest. basically all i know is

There are the green ones (which are shit and you cant see)
The orange ones
The oranges ones with coloured numbers

Are the coloured numbers just programmed into the display as sorts, or does it have to be a certain type of display.

Also what displays do GNE currently use.

Any finally completly off topic, I think i read something about the displays on the back of the new Cobalt vechiles, being wrong, was this because they are suppoed to have the complete display rather than just the number (or have i just made that up)

I Noticed the 56 deckers just have the numbers, which is all you need really. Never seen the point in having a destination of a bus on the back ....

the only time you might see it is when its pulling away or your running for it.

The old 'destinations were displayed on a roller blind type piece of kit.

These days, with dot matrix, flip for, led etc they are classed as displays.

Nowt more complicated than that really.

Currently GNE use flipdot and LED. Flipdot (yellow dots) were the first blinds, but now GNE buy LED.
The LED displays are either all amber or amber with a colour panel for the route number. They are a different blind compared to a normal amber one as they have a panel of tri-colour LED's.
Answered your own question on the last one, if you are running for a bus you want to know where it is going Tongue

Surely you'd be waiting for the said bus though, and not be expecting it to wait for you running towards it. :p

Is running out of a shop to see the bus exclusive to Cobalt Clipper passengers then? Plenty of shops on the Ten, Angel and Red Arrows routes, but they don't have the benefit of a full rear destination display.

Given the differering destinations heading south on the 21, it sounds perfect for a full display on the rear.
Imagine coming out of Tanfastic in Birtley all bronzed and sunkissed, to find that 21 you have just ran for, terminates at Chester!

Entirely possible it was thought of as an unnecessary cost before last year? I notice all buses last year came with full rear destination displays and did not have coloured displays (exception being the B9TL order where it seems there was a cock up somewhere along the line and indeed the Connections4 Mercs which received both too).

Perhaps last year it was decided that having a full rear is more advantageous to customers than coloured displays?

Busy 2 weeks for GNE:

Changes this Saturday in Sunderland, East Durham and for the Diamond, Lime and 13 / 14.

Week after the Riverside depot opens - along with changes to the TEN, Toonlink, Blaydon Racers, CityLink and also the Fab56.

Should be fun for the enthusiasts who take pictures.

3 dual door volvo b7s on chester services X21, X22 & X25, is this a temporary move?, seen the new 13/14 timetable and its a single deck on the cover also the X25 has a decker on the front. Just wondering if the repainted 4926-4931 could be allocated to the 13/14/X22 and the dual door b7s be allocated to the X25, therefore seeing a few of the older tridents leaving the fleet?

The South Tyne 5 was suffering quite badly today...

Unid'd Cadet broke down at Fellgate around an hour ago. The Cadet that I was on (8243) had acceleration problems, and the driver had to restart the engine a few times at various places enroute.

As I am about to mention in the rare workings thread, an unid'd Fab 57 was also seen on the 5.

The X22 on about 30-50% of journeys will need a decker, probably higher in school holiday time.

I don't disagree, as I'm personally a fan of full rear displays. If that was the reason you'd expect the Fab Fifty Six batch to also have been converted though?

I think they are going to be? Was no room at Saltmeadows to hold 34 B9TLs though, so made sense to just put them out into service straight away.
