Well spotted - 4843 (R843 PRG) is the one at Chester-le-Street, and not 4842.

As citaro5284 said, quite likely that the rest of the R-PRG Volvo B10BLEs will be withdrawn soon, too, but some of these will be released by other buses rather than directly replaced.

The evening 14 service will also be covered by 5409, providing it is not required on "Coast & Country" services 8/78.

These spares are getting well used haha

That's the advantage of having corporate liveried spares to the same specification opposed to branded spares! Smile

The Micro-Hybrid Streetlites are very fuel-efficient compared to other vehicles, so it makes sense to allocate these vehicles from the company's perspective. It also helps to upgrade other services, without having to allocate the wrong branded vehicle, so customers also benefit.

Win/win situation!

(03 May 2015, 11:55 am)Kuyoyo wrote Consulting the timetables - are you sure the 14 interworks with the X22s on Sundays as the 14 is hourly compared to the 2 hourly X22

I'll answer this one for Robert. Yes, I'm sure.

One board works as follows:
0905 #14 Langley Park - Durham (arr 0934).
0944 #X22 Durham - Metrocentre (arr 1030).
1035 #X22 Metrocentre - Durham (arr 1120).
1133 #14 Durham - Langley Park (arr 1202).
...and so on.

The other board fits in two round trips of the 14 before doing a round trip on the X22, as follows:
0933 #14 Durham - Langley Park (arr 1002).
1005 #14 Langley Park - Durham (arr 1033).
1035 #14 Durham - Langley Park (arr 1102).
1105 #14 Langley Park - Durham (arr 1134).
1144 #X22 Durham - Metrocentre (arr 1230).
1235 #X22 Metrocentre - Durham (arr 1320).
1333 #14 Durham - Langley Park (arr 1402).
...and so on.

I believe the latter running board is the one which should be allocated the Streetlite, with the former running board being allocated a red Scania L94.

Noticed some of the Chester examples of the Streetlight, parked at the rear of Chester.
Looks pretty crowded in there today, with vehicles sticking out of the building.

The bus that does the evening 14 runs like this on monday to friday.

X21 chester to durham
X21 Durham to Newcastle
94 Gateshead to Team Valley
Light to Durham
13 for the rest of the day until the 16.40ish 14 departure from Langley park then 14s for the rest of the night. Sure we'll see on tuesday if its allocated like this.

I was referring to the Saturday evening 14 service, which of course is completely different, as I'm sure you're aware.

The main Saturday daytime board will continue to be allocated a Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President (being allocated to services 14/X22 during the day), but the runs from 20:15 onwards will be the red Streetlite, providing it is not needed for "Coast & Country" services 8/78.

Leaves the depot about 7.50 if memory serves, sure the folk of langey, witton & sacriston would be chuffed to have a brand new vehicle on the 13 though. I'd assume the friday night workings to be the same?

The seats inside the C&C Streetlites, are they all forward facing?

Hate it when the seats face each other at the back, as you're looking at some randomer the whole journey!

Apart from the sideways facing ones at the front, yes, they're all forward facing.

Apart from two seats behind the drivers cab which are sideways facing and the wheelchair/buggy bays they are all forward facing.

(03 May 2015, 10:39 am)Dan wrote A number of movements are due to take place over the next few days as a result of the entry into service of these new vehicles. The first movements commenced last night and early this morning, and these are as follows:

  • Stanley-based Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4904 (W904 RBB) has transferred to Deptford, allowing DAF SB120/Wright Cadet 8273 (NK54 NLD) to transfer to Riverside. The latter will transfer to Hexham shortly, as a replacement for DAF SB120/Wright Cadet 8244 (NA52 BUW) which will be withdrawn. 8242 (NA52 BUU) will also be withdrawn as a result of the entry into service of the Streetlites on service X66, though both will remain in use when required.
  • Chester-le-Street based "Northern" branded Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4843 (R843 PRG) and "Lime" branded 4853 (R853 PRG), 4854 (R854 PRG) and 4855 (R855 PRG) have all been withdrawn.

(03 May 2015, 11:27 am)Dan wrote Well spotted - 4843 (R843 PRG) is the one at Chester-le-Street, and not 4842.

I jumped the gun somewhat earlier, but further movements have now taken place:
  • Chester-le-Street's Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4896 (V986 ETN) has transferred to Deptford, allowing the withdrawal of Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4842 (R842 PRG) at Deptford.
  • Chester-le-Street's Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4906 (W906 RBB) has transferred to Riverside, joining 4907 (W907 RBB) once more. They never seem to be too far apart, that pair! I believe this has allowed the withdrawal of dual-door Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 5164 (T814 CBW), but this will be confirmed in Go North East's official fleet news next week.
  • Chester-le-Street's Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4908 (W908 RBB) and 4909 (W909 RBB) have transferred to Deptford. As posted elsewhere, this has released Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President 6008 (V308 LGC) and 6020 (V220 LGC) to Percy Main, in turn allowing the withdrawal of Dennis Trident/East Lancs Lolyne 3858 (V858 EGR). Two buses have transferred but only one has been withdrawn, as Percy Main's Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 vehicles
have started to migrate down south to be treated to hybrid flywheel technology, as citaro5284 noted a few days ago here.
This concludes the cascades/withdrawals from Chester-le-Street Depot, but further movements are due to occur at Stanley Depot.

Rather have B10's than those horrid B7's, still think Deptford should of gave them 2 Vykings!

All in good time!

Should any further dual-door Volvo B10BLEs be withdrawn, I think it will be the ones that were not refurbished when they joined the fleet from Oxford (5160 - 5165). All of Percy Main's (besides 5165) were refurbished.

Well, none of Deptford's should actually be allocated to main service work! The two Volvo B7TLs that should be allocated to service 9 are Presidents (6039 and 6042), with the third bus being a Volvo B10BLE.

Two Vykings are allocated to scholars and a few runs here and there which those scholars interwork with, but you shouldn't have to deal with them too much, Michael! Wink
