Must be horrible for the person knowing his fag end was responsible for the deaths of 56 people

They interviewed the copper and he explained the tale.
The guy has died now - apparently he was visiting from Australia.
According to the guys family, he never told them it was him. Just that he knew where the fire started and how he tried pouring coffee on to it.

I did a bit stewarding at Hartlepool when I was 16, we did a bit training around various aspects of stewarding...One of the topics discussed was Bradford, we were shown a real time video of it...
It was about 90 seconds to take hold and within 5 minutes the whole was alight, quite scary
(13 May 2015, 10:52 am)Andreos1 wrote Aye, I can remember it happening. Heysel was just a few weeks later on if I remember correctly. We were on holiday when that happened.Didn't Roker have 2 wooden sides, Upper Clock Stand and Upper Main Stand...Both Paddocks down the side were concreted.
Scary to think how quickly the fire took hold at Valley Parade.
Same here. Did stewarding at SJP 13-14 years ago as a second job and we were shown it there too.
The wooden stand at SJP was taken down in the late 80's and replaced with the first version of the Milburn Stand. However, Roker Park still had their wooden stand until they moved to the SOL.

Must have been an awful time for football, Bradford and Heysel about 18 days apart, Then Hillsborough in '89...Which is one of my first memories of football as a wee 6/7 yr old...
Heysel anniversary is a fortnight on Friday
