Do you know if they'll purchase some new buses for them services?

To my knowledge, there are currently three Scania N94UD/East Lancs OmniDekka vehicles at Stanley. The entry into service of 6125 (GX03 SUV) has already been established, but this vehicle has since been joined by 6127 (GX03 SVA) and 6128 (GX03 SVC). The latter two vehicles moved over from Saltmeadows Road yesterday, so should enter service soon.

Doubt it. They'll just use the current vehicles on the routes.

Would it be possible for you to let me know which routes/boards these are on tomorrow?

Can't promise anything, as it's likely that I'll be out myself tomorrow..!

Yeah I'm over Newcastle way tomorrow so I'd quite to know if anyone sights it at anytime tomorrow and I will also post if I see it tomorrow.

The 2 plain purple versa's might join the Orbit if the proposed changes go ahead (Q1 merging with 51/52) athough this depends on how much it will increase by.

The Q2 and X40/40A were planned to merge together, interworking every 20 minutes, the rest of the Quaylink Versa's should go on their (although were not sure what they will be branded as)

So:

51/52 - Gateshead - Carr Hill - Felling Square - Heworth - Leam Lane Estate - Springwell Estate - Wrekenton - Easedale Gardens - Dryden Road - Gateshead - The Sage l Gateshead College l Baltic l Quayside l Newcastle - every 15 minutes - PVR 11? - the 2 purple versa's joins as "Orbit"

Q3 - Newcastle l Quayside l Ouseburn l St Peter’s Basin - Newcastle City Centre » Gosforth High Street » Regent Centre » Great North Road » Brunton Lane » Great Park  - Every 20 minutes - PVR 7 - Branded as ?????? (although this had a proposed route change at the great park, so it might change)

The 2 spare versa will remain at Riverside

I'll be going late afternoon so I'll be able to see what boards they are on hopefully.

I don't think the Q3 will go down to the Quayside. The Q2 is not being replaced. I would say it is highly likely that 8328 and 8329 will go onto the orbit.

I was just going by the rumoured routes, i just merged the Q2 and X40 together if i'm honest.

Although the Q3 route i said does sound better than 2 separate routes, so it should be:

Q1 replaced by 51/52
Q2 - Same but every 20 minutes
Q3 - replacing the X40 - Every 20 minutes - Interworking with the Q2.

(05 Jun 2015, 8:34 pm)Dan wrote Riverside-based Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse 4980 (NK54 NUM) is still presently at Saltmeadows Road for repaint into Go North East's corporate livery, though I believe it is now ready to be returned to Riverside.

I haven't been noting the repaints of the former "Red Kite" branded Scania CN230UB/Scania Omnicity vehicles, given that they were all in storage and were being repainted as and when, but 5236 (NK56 KHD), 5239 (NK56 KHG) and 5240 (NK56 KHH) have all been repainted black and should be branded as "Toon Link" soon. As soon as they are branded, they'll be ready to go out on the road! I think more or less all of these vehicles have now been repainted.
Both of those which are Highlighted are Branded and have entered Service at Riverside Dan.

Yup - this is the reason why I haven't been noting the repaints. As soon as they're repainted, they're branded, and then they enter service.

I personally think that would be a great idea, I often feel that when I create all the suggestions that I do that there is little conversation on thread discussing the pros and cons of why a suggestion may and may not be viable, or is simply not even looked at, I would love it if more members along with GNE Management where to look at these suggestions and then give some constructive criticism and advice on which a suggestion could be improved on because as you say there are some good suggestions in that thread, and not so good.

6125 departures out of Newcastle on X30/X31:
0845am
1115am
1345pm
1615pm

Fantastic bus. Had it from Gateshead to Newcastle (hoping for a better journey on it later), but it has an abundance of power and was quite comfortable. Brighton have lost some good buses, it would seem!

Would you say they're as good as the 745* lowlanders or better?

So much better.

I made an attempt to climb the stairs at Gateshead and the driver pulled away while I was in the process. It was so quick off the mark, I almost fell down!

Overheating is typical of all Scanias. Worst case scenario sees an engine bay fire, as has happened with a couple of GNE's L94s in the past.

Thankfully a bit cooler here up north than down south! Bet they're still better in terms of reliability than the Tridents they're replacing.

Is it just me or has the entry into service of the omnidekkas been really slow? its been over 1 and a half months since one first appeared, theve been sat at the back of saltmeadows for more than a month, and so far only 6125 has entered service. has there been any problems with them since they came?

Each vehicle needs some work done to them before they can go into service, and there is only so many people avavilable to work on them.

Go North East has had to perform a number of modifications to them to bring them to the company's specification.

They had automatic ramps down south with Brighton, but have had manual ramps fitted for use in the North East as these are more reliable. The automatic ramps have attracted a number of complaints in the Stanley area, where a Facebook page entitled "Simply No" was set up.

The destinations also had to be sorted - front/rears had to be modified so that they could scroll via points and a side destination had to be fitted to replace the small flipdot screen previously fitted. I believe the destination controller has also been moved, as it was bizarrely located previously.

Hence why he said a couple  Smile There have been times when an omnicity has had to divert to the depot in Stanley because of overheating issues.

Well so did one of Arriva's Enviros that was less than 6 year old. Doesn't mean that the rest of them are bad despite 7501 - 7506 being battered by Blyth and Redcar.
