''Coast & Country'' Streetlite 5402 is in Chester-le-Street for Sunderland on the 78, absolutely rammed with cricket fans. Looked like every seat was taken - when I usually board that run, I couldn't count the amount of passengers on one hand.

Just to remind everyone; expect delays on the ''Coast & Country'' services today, due to the amount of congestion around the Emirates Cricket Ground.

Currently on 5403 on a sunderland-bound 8 at CLS south burns and the next stop screen is showing "You are now at Stanley Bus Station."

Now finding that it says this for every stop, if the doors are opened.

citaro5284 and I will lynch you if you're not careful, Michael... ;-)

The announcements were tested on 5401 before being rolled out - there wasn't any comments to suggest that announcements were incorrect, so they were rolled out across all buses earlier this week. Since, there's been one or two comments relating to the volume being too loud. We are working on a happy medium.

Please be assured we will chase this up to find out what the issue is. We've paid for the technology to be implemented on the buses, so the announcements not working properly quite frankly isn't an option.

Which one was that? I was on 6127 last week and made not a single rattle.

With the Norham Road / Formica junction works due to start soon, do you think GNE with the exception of a Sunday daytime and a few early morning positoning journeys (i.e 310 to Newcastle then 309 to Blyth) will split the 309 and 310 / X39 so that they no longer inter-work?

I thought 6125 was a gonner at one point.
Turned a right and its speed combined with a full load, meant it looked like it was going to topple.

The Ten's were being diverted via Scotswood Road this afternoon due to a blockage of some sort in Dunston. It was nice travelling along that corridor in a B9TL.

Would it not have been easier to take the deckers off in exchance for Single Deckers and run the TEN via the brewery (the same way that the 100 goes)?

This only happens in extreme circumstances, such as when there are strong winds which would mean allocating double decks to services like "Tyne Tees Xpress" X9/X10 would be unsafe.

I'd argue that there probably wouldn't be that many spare single decks in the depot, anyway, regardless of how suitable or unsuitable the allocation of single decks would be.

Wouldn't be ideal but would be better than suffering from delays whilst losing a few home comforts.
MurdnunoC   20 Jun 2015, 7:09 pm
I imagine the delays will have been caused by the temporary traffic lights on St Omers Road. Most buses were running approx 10-15 minutes late during peak periods. It's been like that for the past few days I'm afraid.

A number of Hexham-related updates:
  • Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse 4979 (NK54 NUJ), which has been on loan to Hexham, was allocated to a board of "TEN" service 10 today which finishes at Riverside, so is hence no longer on loan.
  • Former Driver Training Volvo B12B/Plaxton Panther coaches 7090 (MH54 MBX) and 7092 (K2 VOY) have returned to Riverside following modifications at Thorntons.
  • White Plaxton Panther 7093 (K3 VOY) has been actively used within the Coaching fleet as of late, though recently returned to Hexham. It saw use on National Express work again today, but is now at Riverside.

Pretty confident when I say it undertook the 10's usual route minus its first trip into Newcastle in which it undertook the same route as the 43/44/45/46/47...
