Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015
(12 Jul 2015, 6:52 pm)Dan wrote Each 'box' you can type in is a colour - red, yellow and blue (if I remember rightly). Towards the bottom right of the screen, there are three ticky boxes which are coloured and say 'fix'. If you tick these for the appropriate coloured box you've used a non-standard font for, the font changes will remain. This is how we use Arial route numbers now.

But yes, very complicated and very time-consuming. I envy those at Arriva and Stagecoach who don't have all of the different destination display variations, that's for sure! You can appreciate that this is why Go North East seem to have more issues with route numbers appearing on the wrong side of the display, compared to other operators...

You can go into robotic mode when you're doing lots of changes to a programme for service revisions, but you just have to make sure you've got your spellings right before you start copying and pasting! I tend to type all of my destinations up on Microsoft Excel first as it's easier to see all of the destinations in a spreadsheet, then copy and paste after that.

Ah yes. Shows how familiar i am with the software!

Why has bus full been removed, yet the great north run baggege bus numbers are on the angels. Having " Sorry.....BUS FULL " would help on the 21s at times.

The bus full was removed because how would someone know what service had gone past especially if you had a red vehicle and that road was shared with a couple of services.  Que a complaint for non operation.

Also, when VOSA are carrying out spot checks, a route number must be on display so they can check the timings with the registration.  It would simply not be practical to have a bus full setup for every service, and probably not possible with the amount of memory that is in the DERIC's.  Riverside's vehicles are close to the max now.

Think I saw it entering Gateshead Interchange when we were boarding the X66 yesterday. It took me by surprise as well, I hadn't see it in quite a while.

Possibly just a case of it not being photographed or seen by enthusiasts or has been VOR recently, with it being the only bus sporting this livery it is a bit noticeable if it is missing.

I saw it on Friday, unsure what service it was on though.

It might have just been on holiday for a couple of weeks, it has been very hot in recent weeks and I imagine it was taking advantage of being one of many spares, and going on holiday. Tongue

In London the IBus informs passenger that the bus is about to divert, and displays bus on diversion whilst on the route, then restores back when vehicle returns to normal route. All done with GPS.

Spends most of its days on the 97 lately as there's a Highwayman on long-term VOR. Often allocated from early doors on a weekday.
(12 Jul 2015, 11:06 pm)DaveyBowyer wrote Quick one: How do NSA's work on diversions?

It will display the normal next stop until it recognises the coordinates of where the bus is again, where it will then announce the correct stop.

The programme can be amended accordingly to make customers aware of the diversion, but then this programme would have to be loaded to each vehicle again. If the diversion was going to be ongoing for a number of weeks, I would suggest the latter would be done, but if it was only a diversion in place for a day or two, it would not be practical to update the programme on the bus twice (once for diversion, once for normal route).

Would be nice to see it move around the region sometime... like it was supposed to!

When the youngest MPD's from Peterlee transfer to Deptford... they're going to look a mess when they take the East Durham brand off 573/574. 565 and 619 will look alright because they are in the old Venture tag lines.... no point in repainting them either.

Fleet News from Go North East's website:
  • 5161 Riverside to Deptford
  • 5162 Riverside to Peterlee*
  • 3870 withdrawn from Percy Main
* Note that, in reality, the vehicle is working on behalf of Deptford Depot. As established already, the two dual-doors have transferred across for a PVR increase of the Prince Bishops and East Durham services, hence why it is shown as having transferred to Peterlee.

Just to note, the PDF for the fleet allocation hasn't being updated yet.

Edit: Fleet allocation is now up to date.

Citaro posted it in the Go North East: 2015/16 Financial Year Order Predictions thread before:

The Streetdeck is 9119, it was allocated that number months ago when it first came across from Wrights, the Enviro if I remember is 9109.
