Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes

Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes

RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Looks like they're doing route learning for when the 22 extends to Cobalt. One of their single decker MAN's has just passed me at the top of Rosehill Bank heading towards Wallsend.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
Don't think the 309 would be affected too badly by Stagecoach's new extended 22 service. I do think however that the 1 will get into a bit of trouble though.

It might do well, it might take passengers away from the 309, we don't know until changes happen.

Watch this space, big Director changes in the last year or two and things are in the pipe line, just like we are seeing with the Newcastle 22 at the moment.

I hope so, Stagecoach could do well if they did a link to Newcastle from Sunderland.... if the route is right though.... even to other places....

RE: Stagecoach North East: Upcoming Service Changes
I wonder if Stagecoach would expand to other areas? Maybe some services from Blyth to the Toon to compete with the X10 / X11? Here's one, know it's a suggestion but something doable?

- Every 15 minutes (30 eve and Sun) serving same route as X11 to Black Diamond then same route as X10 from there to Newcastle.

I would assume the average passenger would choose MAX over a bog standard Stagecoach E400 Angel

Not exactly a " Bog Standard " E400. If Stagecoach wanted to compete with Arriva on that route they will more than definitely convert some of there decker's to high back seating and Wifi with Stagecoach Gold coming later on, or they will transfer some surplus Scania E400s to Slatyford/ Walkergate with high backed seating to operate it with again Gold coming at a later date

True that could happen

Don't know like. If Arriva decide not to re-invest to replace some of the older 57 plate deckers next year, I think that they could potentially start a new service and even have it pick up on a few stops along Ponteland Rd into Newcastle (obviously not all of them). And when the Cowgate works are completed, that route into Newcastle could even put Stagecoach at advantage.

They did try a few years back. Remember the X43 from Newcastle to Cramlington.

Services 18 and 19 temporarily unable to serve South Bents Estate

Due to the presence of roadworks in South Bents Estate, Services 18 and 19 are temporarily unable to serve the estate.

Last Updated: 28 October 2015 2:12 PM

These works commenced in the last couple of days and are likely to be in place until the end of the week (approx Saturday 31 October 2015).

In the interim, these routes are turning at Latimers Fish shop. Customers are advised to use the bus stops on Whitburn Bents Road.

Stagecoach would like to apologise for any inconvenience these highways works by Sunderland City Council may cause, and we remain grateful for customers’ patience and understanding.

It's comical that two principal operators, between them, can't come up with even the most basic level of service for Teesside. It plays right into the hands of the pro-regulation argument imo.

Or South Shields their only serving Biddick, Whiteleas and Jarrow and E2/6 leaving others busless relying on hourly 5 or half- Hourly 88. Feel sorry for anyone South of Sunderland/ Seaham left busless while other places have plenty.

I can't see the issue with having to rely on a hourly or half hourly service? It's more than sufficient for the amount of people travelling on a boxing day, given that South Tyneside is also served by the Metro.

Which areas are left without buses in Shields?

Stagecoach-wise - Brockley Whins, Fellgate, The Lonnen/Watson Avenue. A Metro which will fail or have LRA.

Boxing Day services in Tyne and Wear are subsidised by Nexus as there is no economical viability in operating services on this day

But with the default position being that there's a Metro service, then Brockley Whins and Fellgate both have a regular through service. Appreciate the reliability isn't great as of late, but there you go.

Is the Lonnen in the Cleadon area? If so, it's not too far to walk to the main road, for either 1/2/E6?
