Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015
(11 Oct 2015, 6:34 pm)Dan wrote Younger vehicles have a higher book value than older vehicles. If the "Fab Fifty Seven" branded Volvo B10BLEs still have quite a high book value, they will need to remain in the fleet  beyond this year, and they will also have the cost of the DDA modifications to cover too.

I believe there's a substantial difference between those Scania OmniDekkas new in 2003 and those new in 2004, which perhaps explains why the latter examples are also being re-trimmed, as they'll have to spend longer in the fleet to depreciate the entire book value.

I wonder if they'll get done then to remain in the fleet so they can be sold on later then.

What's rattled your cage, haha? I'm not sure when I said that, mind..! Regardless of who said it originally, I think you're pulling the wrong person for being guilty of that?

I was wanting to know how it was more complicated, when buses aren't typically disposed of (unless they're being sold on within the group) if they haven't fully depreciated and the vehicle still has quite a large book value... Basic accountancy!

There would have been a logic to making the 12/12A Blaydon Racers as it shares the routes around Blaydon / Winlaton with the 49/49A, using the five "spare" Citaros now believed to be going to the 57; the Omnicities for the 12 going to the 57 instead. There is no common factor between the 12/12A and the X30/31 to be in the same brand.

Other than the fact that they both link other places with the 'toon'?

The Fast Cats services don't have a common factor between them (apart from both going to Sunderland) and nothing has ever been said about it.

I think the brand suits both routes although i think the X35 deserves better buses now, which will make the brand have 2 sets of buses... which we know GNE are not keen on... i'm not sure how well the X36 does since it changed.

The X35 should be upgraded to cascaded citarios and maybe a revised brand with Wifi etc... to compete against Arriva service 23, the X36 should turn iinto a X56 and come out of the fast cats brand, and some members think that the fast cats brand and the old black cats brand which was for service 26/36 has to do with SAFC, in which these 2 brands have no association with SAFC.

Welcome aboard the next rumour...

7 Wright Streetdecks have been ordered for the X21.

Just thought i'd make the word rumour bold so i didn't get ridiculed for making it up.

If another service gets new buses with Citaro's (27, Blaydon Racers for example  i think they should go on the X35.

Example of what could happen:

Citaros from Crusader - X35 (8)... along with the X84/X85 (5) - (both include spares)

Citaro's from Blaydon Racers - 8 to the X35 (1 spare) - 2 spares to move or stay at Riverside.

---------------------

The 33/33A/39 should be branded "Black Cats" soon - although we've being waiting months for that to happen.

The Silver Citaro's on the 61 - hopefully are branded soon.

Passenger loadings are looking alright for the 434. I've had to provide home-printed timetables to the bus station, which have ran out immediately! Not a lot of passengers are impressed, with cross-Ashington links only being possible during the first two journeys, kids being made to pay £1.50 adult singles to get to school (used to be 55p return on Phoenix) and long waiting and connection times to 2nd half 434 journeys etc.

Although it's likely to be a rumour at this stage, it wouldn't totally surprise me if the X21 does get StreetDecks in the not too distant future.

Funny - it was on time on the 1325 from Ashington to Bedlington Station.

Sorry, meant 1225. What stand did it leave from, was B blocked? It's supposed to leave from C.

It used 'D' as the X22 was blocking access to 'B' and 'C' due to the fencing in the road.

What is the reason behind 3874 being taken out of service? Is it having some serious work done to it or something like that?
