Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015
(12 Oct 2015, 10:02 pm)Dan wrote It was only updated and released publicly this afternoon.

The real time feature is still in testing stages and there are a few 'bugs' with it which perhaps explains the lack of publicity at this stage. I'm sure some of you would have spotted some of the bugs/glitches already - I've seen a few enthusiasts twisting on Facebook about it.

I can't see anything happening here that would cause disruption to the 434. Does the 448 start at the 'original' Nisa in Guide Post? Parked cars are a problem around there. There hasn't been a school bus there for years, why are people relying on it now?

I believe that it used to be Premier operated? There definitely has been a school bus there, I see it most days depending upon where I am.

Arriva used to operate that route or similar, I don't really follow the independents that don't have normal bus services hence why I didn't know.  Big Grin

GNE have enough problems ensuring the front one is working never mind side and rear. When it becomes a legal, oh boi, there be problems. As a result they are now in talks about a new destination blind system, like what Edinburgh use. Not done with winding handles, still with the buttom system and it just turns at sets itself, winding handle provided for a backup. Its only talks its not confirmed i must stress. Carn't see it happening myself, cost too much.

Load of bollocks - it's not even in talks, and if it was, I'd be one of the first to find out about it.

We're rolling out a new system which involves profiling the driver's console, removing the need to change switch settings on the destination display itself, ready for the DDA regulations coming into fruition from 1 January 2016. 5154 and 5157 would not load Profile 10 (which is what the dual-door Volvo B10BLEs are on) when they were updated last Saturday, so they're on Profile 9 temporarily (which is what the Scania OmniDekkas are on) until Hanover fix the issue with the driver consoles on those two vehicles. As such, the front display looks a bit obscure and the back display does not work (as the OmniDekkas have LEDs on the rear rather than flipdot).

Are a gne manager or something? Seem to know a lot about selling buses, and destination displays. As i said its talks, i believe there was only a few high up managers on about it from what i heard. That last bit went way over my head, i don't know what your profile 9 and 0 are, i don't know what flipdots are, i don't know what a hanover is, hangover yeah but hanover lost on me. I was simply trying to "discuss" under the Discussion thread something about buses which i thought a bus spotters forum was about. Discussing bus spotting and stuff that goes with it. Thought it might get a discussion going about pros and cons of thier possiable idea. As i said was only a discussion.

Well, all I can say is there is no talks about changing destination suppliers....I do not know where you have heard it from, but we have a meeting on Friday with Hanover about using them more.

Dan maybe not be a Manager, but I am!

4924/4925 have now received modifications at Thornton Brothers, Ashington, so they are now DDA-compliant.

This leaves 7 of single doors left to be done.

These vehicles were VOR when the rest were updated, so couldn't be touched. As they're now back on the road, they should be updated soon.

I think for upcoming changes, Still left to paint is:

5294/95/96 still need repainted in to Signal Blue

4940,4947,4948,4967,5228 all need to be repainted in to Green - for Green Arrow (I would imagine all these will be Green?)

Branding should start soon.

Which is funny because I have no reports in my feed of anything other than normal rush hour heavy traffic.

Along with 5291 (as stated on fleet news page):

Anyway, a new profile picture for Citaro5284: https://www.flickr.com/photos/nebp2/22006945500/

Think he may want to leave it until it gets fully branded though.
