If you're going to Florida or mexico you'll be on it, if not it'll be 737-800s.

757 supposedly allocated to my flight with Thomson.
Was on one a few years ago to Dalaman with Thomas Cook and hated the aircraft.

Details of how Newcastle - New York actually happened.

It appears Lord Adonis had a role to play.

Just a quick question. Where's a good place to stand at Newcastle Airport if you're waving people onto a plane, now that the big outside viewing balcony has gone? (Just goes to show how long it's been since I was last at the airport)

You could try the freight area along the side. There is the pub, helicopter take off area and flying clubs all along there too.

I'm a bit surprised that FlyBe didn't want to try LCY, especially with their expansion there. Obviously the BA shuttles are great for connecting traffic (what I use them for), but I am sure a lot of people use them for O&D flights. You would think there would possibly be the demand for an early morning/late evening Dash 8 run to LCY... I suppose slot restrictions and noise constraints at LCY are tight.

Aircraft flown on:

744, 77W, 772, E145, E190, E170, E175, E195, A319, A320, A320NEO, A321, A321NEO, A330-200, A330-300, A340-600 763, 752, 733, 737, 738, CRJ900, CRJ1000
Favourite aircraft: G-STBL/G-ZBKL

Don't know if anyone has tried the shot from the landing runway (from the coast) on the main road just before the runway, if that makes sense? I think the Arriva 44 stops near there and I was wanting to give it a go...

The NexusBus 353 stops there too, although it only seems a 15-25 minute walk from Kingston Park Metro.

There's a photo in my photostream taken from the emergency exit gates if that's the place you're on about.

Cheers! Was on the 353 the other day but only to Kingston Park - will have to see if I can get there then, although it'd be easier on the 44 as it's straight from Haymarket plus a regular frequency.

That's a brilliant shot! Hopefully I'd achieve something similar, probably the place you're on about but I'd get the pics of the planes landing.

I have to be honest, I wouldn't mind a small trip up to the airport on the Metro.

The Metro trip is quite good and I would recommend making your return on the X77/X78 (bus stop on main road behind Tulip Hotel) the bus is a lot quicker between the City Centre and Airport.
My favouite journey to the Airport is the Go North East 74A on a Sunday.

It's a good ride, very quiet but I love the southbound journey from Airport going down the bank from Callerton Parkway haha.

Talking of getting the Metro to the Airport.. Me, Bazza and Dan went on a proper 'metty mish' a few weeks back!

We went up to the Airport from Gateshead and it was a really pleasant journey from Kingston Park onwards when all of the chavs got off. I think we ended up going to Haymarket, Gateshead, Heworth etc on the Metro that day also.

And Dan will remember Bazza's conversation to someone on the phone regarding his hatred of Seagulls and Pigeons  Tongue .

Loved going on the old observation deck! It would be where the current security checks are, where the door was - that took you onto the outdoor roof space, which is probably duty free now.
Except that because there were very few planes then, you were basically looking at the Dan Air parked up for half an hour until you got bored.
